Apparently the 4.3 feels a bit gutless and lacking in torque. The 4.7 (might be 4.8, the actual size escapes me rn) is much better and the one to go for.

As long as it burbles like a V8 I would be happy, not gonna be using the power on UK roads anyway.

I was looking at this one on Sunday but didn't keep track. £10k with all 3 big ticket items complete seems too good!

Higher engine models will require a bit of searching for your budget but worth a look. They won't be Porsche levels of ride (except maybe the F-Type) but more practical and still fun.

i have replaced my old Mk2 Golf 20vT that i had for 10 years with an S2000 over the last year, i wont be going back to the old Golf scene, grown out of it and didn't want to drive it in the end. best to leave them in the past now....
S2000, although isn't the fastest and sucks on the motorway, blast it through the backroads with the top down and its great fun.

I wouldn't rule out the 3litre Si either. Cheaper to run and better balanced I thought, without the heavy M lump in the front. Sounded better, at least on the inside, during normal use, but the M engine of course is a beast when pushed. Runflats on the Si were pretty nasty however, causing what I'd describe as severe tramlining at times.
