Running a Ryzen 5800x3d need a new GPU for upcoming bf6..

Need a little advice as i currently have a Ryzen 5800x3d, my current gpu is a rx6800xt i mainly play Battlefield and i feel i am due a gpu upgrade for bf6, I don't want to upgrade the cpu as it still performs well and would rather wait for the new AMD cpu releases next year. I like to compete as best i can so usually play mostly on low settings but would like a little headroom. My Monitor ia a 170htz model at 1440p and i am pretty happy with it. I would rather wait for the nvidia super cards but as the game is releasing in october i don't know if i should buy an rtx 5070ti or the rx 9070xt the rtx 5080 is an obvious choice but i was thinking i could save myself £600 then sell either model filler gpu i buy now and probably re-coup £350 for that as well so have around £900 towards the super card later next year. I am leaning towards the rtx 5070ti but i am not sure it will run as well on my ryzen rig as good as the rx9070xt i also have a new platinum corsair psu ready to fit so have the power, anyone done this and can advice would be appreciated..thanks in advance.

Honestly I bought the Sapphire Pulse 9070XT and paired it with a 5800X3D and I couldn't be happier with the performance. And that's at 5120x1440p @240hz.

There are benchmarks out there of i.e. 9800X3D vs 5800X3D in Battlefield 6 with a 4090 which show minimal difference between them at 1440p and higher.

5090 is an absolute beast, though that somewhat shows how mediocre the mid-range cards have been in recent generations.

Yeah same here. 9070XT nitro with 9800X3D and was playing the beta on 1440p at ultra and getting between 150 and 200fps

Thanks..i have upgraded my 32inch MSI 1440p monitor to a ultrawide 34 inch oled will these cards still cut it with the new screen for BF6 ? I just wish AMD had a faster gpu as a life long Nvidia fan i worried about poor AMD drivers now it seems the tables have turned with Nvidia dropping the driver ball :eek: I prefer AMD now.
 
I have a 5700x3d and a 9070xt bf6 beta ran great on it at 1440p, my last three gpus have been rx480>3070 fe>9070xt i don't have any brand loyalty, the whole AMD bad drivers hasn't been true for a long time.

Yeah, you'll be fine at 1440P :) FWIW, I've got a 4070 and update the drivers regularly, and play many AAA games, and have yet to experience an issue, be it on my monitor or the lounge TV :)
 
The 5800X3D is still a very good gaming CPU and seems able to feed reasonably high refresh gaming in BF6. I'd still have mine were it not for a couple of games I regularly play bumping into limits (Darktide and Helldivers 2, both on the same engine, which topped out lower than I'd like with that CPU-though it was still very playable in both titles).

GPU wise it's hard to call. The 9070 XT is better value than the 5070 Ti comparing the cheapest cards, with the latter only really making sense if you're very interested in RT performance in games with a heavy implementation. DLSS with the transformer model is slightly better than FSR4, but from what I've seen it's the kind of difference you'd forget once you start playing a game instead of just ogling the visuals.

As to whether you should buy one now or wait for the Super release? Tough to say. If the 6800 XT can tide you over then you could wait, but we just don't know what the price/performance will look like.
