*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I don’t believe they do full replays, extended 1 hour plus iirc after channel 4 have shown their highlights.

Not perfect but for me at least now tv with Apple TV is far better than stream/Q variants.

I've cancelled my Sky Q a couple of days ago. I had Signature and HD, and the price is now £49.50. I've had enough. I'll consider NowTV on my Apple TV after the cancellation period expires, or I might stretch to an offer of around £20 to keep the current service (my wife likes the interface and the ability to record). The fact that HD and 4K are still charged as optional extras is ridiculous.

I know of you cancel and sign up again a couple of months later under the details of another adult in the house to get the new customer prices and £70 referral voucher.

I don't know how long you have to not be a customer to be classed as a new one however.

I'm looking to reduce my Sky bill, any advice welcome. Wife and I are separating, kids staying with me but as I'm the breadwinner I'll have to help her with rent, etc so need to get my bills right down.
Current sky bill is this:

TV
Box Sets £51.50
Sky Sports F1 £20.00
HD Basic £0.00
Sky Sports HD £6.00
£0.00 £6.00 discounted to £0.00
Sky Sports HD Subscription Discounted:-£6.00
• Offer end date: 14th June 2104
Sky Q Multiscreen Pack £15.00
Total bill statement
£86.50

I don't need box sets and push comes to crush I can drop F1 and watch on a free-to-air channel.

Seems the most basic package for new customers is £15 a month and that would probably do the job as it covers Netflix too which I pay for separately.

Am I good to just call them up and say "drop me to Essentials" or will that mess up my Sky Q setup?

Replying to my own post…. I called them up and retentions dropped me to Essentials which is £15 a month. Have to send back second Q mini box but the kids really only watch YouTube on that tv so no biggy. Bit annoying that some of the channel are SD - Sky News in particular. Paying extra for HD is a rip off imho.

They've been non stop calling me for the last week. Finally answered and stated unless they could provide the same package we had for £50 or less. No dice, the agent started getting shirty and rude with me! Ended up putting the phone down as they refused to listen. Sky have gone to the dogs.

@Coolasmoo don't you miss the Darts? I know ITV4 show the World Series but the big events are purely Sky, no? I've stopped watching the Touring Cars on ITVX because each time you start watching again you get an extra set of adverts, so generally 2 lots before I can watch the next race. Did my head in.

I see all of the darts, PDC, ITV4, Sky ;)

For me Sky is simply sports. Sky + TNT. My one monthly extravagance :P Football, Rugby, F1, Cricket, UFC, MLB.....I get my money's worth, I don't mind paying it as the Sky money is what funds most top-level professional sport.

Watch the occasional HBO show, but otherwise couldn't care less about the rest of it, barely watch TV apart from the sport.

Pretty much the way I see it also

Same here, wife only really watches Netflix and iPlayer so she doesn't use Sky except for Wimbledon where she doesn't understand 4k iPlayer is better! I turn Sky on to watch Football and F1, I use TNT on my Apple TV to watch Rugby and whatever games they have.
