Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

First episode I thought was very good. Second, quite a big drop in quality and kind of all over the place. A little bit too silly in parts, but also appreciate the darker/grosser bits. Will keep watching. Not enough Olyphant so far!

Oh, and what the heck is going on with the end credits!

After 2 episodes, yes, enjoyable.
Maybe too much touchy feely family stuff and having synthetic kids is a weird choice for a story element.
But I'm enjoying it.

Oddly the Xenomorph might be the worst part.
Sometimes you get too good a look at it in too well lit an environment and it's extremely obvious it's just a dude in a suit :D

The other parasites are cool though.
I think T Ocellus might be the star.

Dunno what to make of it really, some good, some I struggled to be interested in, they could have got a lot of interesting mileage I think out of the initial ship based stuff - shame it moved on from that so quickly.
I presume there's more to come from The Maginot, wether flashbacks or a later episode, seems too much hinted at for it to be left at that.

Enjoyed both episodes,

T Ocellus is as grim as expected, the Xeno rapidly dispatching the posh berk and the Caspians followed by the soldiers was hilarious and horrifying.

Overall a good start to the show. Episode 1 was brilliant, 2 was as mentioned all over the place. The use of rock music in the credits is well out of place.

Watched the 1st 2 episodes.
A pretty good start. I didn't particularly think the 2nd episode dropped in quality, although I did think there was a bit of a contradiction in wanting to be brutal & gritty or a bit comedy horror. I hope it doesn't go towards the latter, but it's Disney, so I don't hold out much hope.
I was surprised to see Adrian Edmondson in it!
I agree the heavy metal in the credits sounded out of place.
I found the whole no comms, unprofessional reaction to a massive spaceship crashing into a city & a few small groups go into it, all a bit meh.

The initial ship based stuff was interesting, we may see more of it in flashbacks or security footage/recordings going forward but time will tell.

They've done really well with the aesthetic imo, there's clearly a little Blade Runner homage going on too with some of it and I don't just mean the way cities look.

Music was interesting, overall I liked it.

I get the feeling that the reason the "Boy Genius" was allowing the MC to watch her brother, was with hopes that she might be able to make the transfer process work with less malleable/older brains so that he can use the process on himself. She was very adamant about the brother not dying during the transport ride to the crash site, and I don't get the impression he plays favourites outside of anything that might benefit him. Granted it's only two episodes so it's a bit of a stretch, but I don't think the proverbial arms race for immortality or political sections are close to be doing done.

Also, was anyone else waiting for that eyeball thing to dive down the throat of the one girl with the constantly open mouth?

I really enjoyed what I saw, it's not perfect but it was well paced, I actually really expected it to be much more of a slow burner.

The black goo thing from Prometheus and the follow on movie, it was supposed to be a trilogy but got canned.

You see elements of it in Alien: Romulus with the humanoid type thing, which mixes with the Resurrection 97 baby to boot. I think Scott was trying to go for a larger universe not related directly to Xenomorphs but got sidetracked/old tbh, he's seemed a bit barmy for around a decade and even then he's been very hit and miss since Gladiator with the exception of The Martian in terms of new properties.

TV wise I actually really liked Raised by Wolves which was backed by him for the first season, and I'd honestly say if I made a top 5 movie list 3 of his would make the cut. That said, he's been losing the bloody plot for awhile now, and while I liked Prometheus the follow up was utter cack beyond one or two good elements (Aka David by Fassbender, who I loved due to him being a nod toward another of my top five, Peter O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia, but that was also a big selling point of Prometheus to me).

I always thought the black goo was always part of the lore/plot - In that it was engineered to try to infuse with humans to help long space travel but.... things went sideways.
