Presumably, this will mean a midfield of two pivots and Ramsey ahead of them. I wonder what it means for Joelinton. He's a tank, but not of the same footballing quality as Tonali or Bruno. Their first choice midfield is now presumably without big Joe, which is a shame from an amusement / excitement perspective. Then again, against better teams he'll be a great replacement for Ramsey and a three of him, Tonali and Bruno is really solid. Interesting signing!

Maybe @el_dazza can comment but looking on transfermarkt, it looks like he's mostly played as a left sided forward for Villa in recent seasons. Obviously he can also play centrally, giving Newcastle another option in midfield but maybe Newcastle are going to solve their striker issues by using Gordon through the middle more?

It'll be interesting to see how Ramsey does if he can get playing regularly again. A couple of seasons ago I was a big fan but due to injuries and Morgan Rogers, his career's kind of stalled.

Joelinton Is great in the games you want to stick your foot in, and bully an opponent shall we say, but in teams that come with a low block, he doesn’t have much effect

I really really like this signing. There’s such a drop off whenever one of Joelinton, Bruno and Sandro don’t play . The 4 can be rotated, rested etc.

Ramsey will also offer a lot more attacking impact and is fantastic at playing between the lines.

Yes he can cover the wing but the left 8 is his best role. Having the option of the left is nice just incase we end up with Gordon through the middle hah. Think he was mostly started on the wing last season?

We also seen Howe switching formations in game last season with the wingers tucking in and fullback overlapping.

More reports of Isak being a tool, as much as he may join us his actions are very much of being a dick regardless of any gentlemen’s agreements etc

On strike, right now he is still in contract and should do basics of that such as train, keep match fit play in matches required till sold.

We slated Suarez, Countinho for lesss

Howe seems more open for him gone in each interview, I feel for Howe here and even newcastle.

For me I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again best thing football could have done in its infancy is have wage caps and release clauses be mandatory for every league and every player. I strongly believe it would avoid this and potentially help clubs long term

Limits could have been reviewed as sport grows, media etc and money in general to grow with it

I've said before that I don't want him for footballing reasons - while I accept that we need another forward, a first choice striker isn't what we need to be spending £100m plus on right now, and I could see this either causing discord with the rest of our front line, or us trying to squeeze too many attackers into the team and being horribly imbalanced.

We can now add his apparent attitude into the mix. Frankly I'll be disappointed if the transfer does go through, and if we get him it wouldn't shock me if it's a mess (even if he performs well, what might the effect on Ekitike be?).

This transfer smacks of the sort of thing that has caused United and Chelsea recent problems. Buying very expensive, highly hyped players because they were available, rather than considering what the squad needed.

The question you really need to ask now is, do you really want someone that will down tools as soon as another big move comes along, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, of he bags 25+ league goals for the next 2 years Madrid/Bayern/Barca will come sniffing. Don’t get me wrong currently if we could get a decent replacement I now want shot of him, but like most football fans I’m fickle and would celebrate and forget past grevences if he bangs in the winner at Anfield.

Edit, because of how he’s acted, I can see Liverpool officially withdrawing from signing him as, they may see him now tarnishing their reputation

Of course Liverpool aren't going to withdraw their interest. The way some people are going on it's like this is the first time a player has kicked up a stink to force a transfer. We've literally had 2 other instances this summer in the PL alone!

People may not like it but it's nothing new and will always go on. If it results in Liverpool getting the player they want and or cheaper than it would have been, they won't care. Just like Newcastle don't care about what Wissa's doing nor Arsenal with Gyokores. It's just part and parcel of football now.

And anyway, we all know that Isak is only doing this because he's desperate to join Liverpool specifically, wanting to follow in the footsteps of his idol Glenn Hysen.
