Just watched Untamed (Netflix).

It was good overall, I enjoyed it. Good story, nice backdrop (Yosemite park).

Until the last 15 mins of the last episode when it was revealed Sam Neill's character had done it all along, with no indication or lead up to that whatsoever through the other episodes, and after going after and killing the wildlife hunter guy for it.

Plus the hypocrisy of the main character and his wife having killed and then covered up the man who killed their son (fine with that), but then to lay into Sam Neill's character as if he was holier than thou.

Good 5 episodes, terrible attempt at a twist at the end.

I really enjoyed it to0
The twist kinda worked for me. I initially thought it was going to be his native american work colleague/friend. To be fair there is a difference in murdering your daughter, and keeping quiet when after the fact you find out your wife hired someone to kill your son's murderer.

Also he went looking for the hunter, I don't think there was an intention to kill him, and ultimately the hunter was just about to kill him when the female ranger stepped in.

I note that they said there will be a season 2, which is something to look forward to.

funnily enough I called out the person who did it in episode one as a joke. Then I read a spoiler by accident when I was on the last episode lol ahhhh

It was obvious from the start there would be a twist, and its fairly routine storyline for it to be one of the coppers in the end, but it was just out of nowhere with no development through the episodes. That's lazy for me.

And there was no sign of any remorse for killing the wrong bloke.

We've been watching this on and off over the last week and nearly given up a few times. I think it's probably fair to say it's a bit all over the place, moving around from one surreal idea to the next. Everyone seems a bit odd to some extent. I'm finding the main character likeable, but very frustrating with all the situations he puts himself in.

I’ve got one episode left on season 2 of Severance. It’s got better ratings than season 1 but I think it’s much weaker. I think the scope has broadened out far too much and it’s ended up way too sprawling. I think this is a problem with some tv shows, and particularly sci fi. You start out with a whole load of ideas and then they get trimmed down for your first run and you end up with something nice and clean and streamlined. Then the show is successful so you need another season so you pick up all the ideas that got chopped out the first time round and put them back together but it just isn’t as neat and tidy. Westworld comes to mind

Decided to give X Files a proper go, currently episode 10 of S1.

It’s not the best TV I’ve ever seen(might’ve appreciated more at the time). For example some of the effects, sets and military stuff hasn’t aged well, quite unbelievable but overall it’s really not bad so far, quite a comforting pre-bed watch. I can see it getting better as the seasons progress.

As I recall the X Files was something of a cultural phenomenon. To be fair it's not really going to have the same impact on someone coming to it 30 odd years later.

Yeah I tried X-files a few years ago and gave up somewhere in season 2. It had some good episodes but found there wasn't enough of the linked plot and too much monster of the week style episodes. I don't think it has aged well either

Yeah absolutely, I’ve just heard so much about it over the years that I thought I’d give it a try. Just watching a single episode at a time before falling asleep so that it doesn’t impede on any other viewing :D

Watching Resident Alien Season 3. Watched the first two seasons on release but completely forgot to check back since. Still a very funny show.

They've canned it unfortunately, this series is the last. :(

Agreed, Alan Tudyk is amazing. My wife and I still do the overarm throw into the cupboard from time to time for the lols (bread, not tinned goods).
