Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

Got me hooked after watching the first 2 episodes, did a really good job of building tension up and liked how sometimes it was easy to spot the Alien on the ship in the background then others you don't see it at all until it moves.

I watched the first two episodes over successive evenings.

Pretty good. I like the emphasis on the children in the adult bodies, it feels like there is a lot of mileage and themes that can be explored with that. The alien itself has been done to death and I really don’t want a retread of the same old thing. In fact, the ‘alien franchise’ aliens are probably the least interesting thing.

I’m open to the competing corporations storyline but ‘big evil conpany’ / ‘cold CEO’ has also been done to death so there’s scope for that to flop. Time will tell.

One aspect that I really didn’t like in episode 1 was the glimpses of fast cut horror and reactions. It felt a cheap way of titillating the audience as to what was to come, but it really wasn’t necessary.

Imo 2nd episode was better due to more gore. I don't like that Hermit guy but can say it's bad writing. How the heck did he dodge the Xeno, the lift opened and closed before the alien.

Then when he meets his sister, doesn't even bring up the alien, nor looking multiple times behind his back.

The kid so close to that ceiling alien, like come on you're asking for it.

How is a planet so advanced that can send spaceships out can't detect one coming in with the no Comms? Also what's up with the potatoe video quality when the genius guy is watching what the others are?

If you're bouncing em waves off the hull inverse square law is a bugger even if you can pick it up out of the clutter. As so well highlighted in The Expanse light from the vessel itself propagates more usefully but in that world you had reaction mass heated to extraordinary temperatures to proves a decent light source, that isn't addressed in Alien Earth or the franchise in general. So if the ship had no transponder or turned it off it might actually turn out for be surprisingly difficult to spot. something.

Liked it overall, some great elements but sending kids into an unknown and dangerous situation is bordering Lex Luthor shouting down, forward, punch in the new Superman levels of dumb.

Look forward to the rest of the season.

Not sure how this builds tension with constant flashbacks etc.

Also why did the alien push the medic away from the eggs?
It wiped out soldiers and a room full of people in mere seconds but has had three goes at the medic and missed/failed.

Why is it just killing?
Why hasn't it dragged people to the eggs?
They have dumbed the alien down, so they can contain it in the story to me.

3/10 so far and that's been generous.

  • Probably because kids these days have an attention span of the average TikTok video duration. They now complain that new series are boring, when what they are doing is introducing characters and building the plot. Maybe the writers are trying to capture all types of audience.

  • Don't remember that?

  • Plot armour, he is Wendy's brother/motivation and no doubt Wendy will have to rescue him at some point.
Why is it just killing?
Why hasn't it dragged people to the eggs?
  • Does it know about the eggs? It's not the aliens ship.

How did the medic not tell his sister, btw there's some alien on a killing spree and nearly killed me. Just walks along all jolly.

I thought only the queen can lay eggs?
