Model Y LR 2022; how bad is the suspension? All i am seeing in reviews is that the suspension is really bad? How would it compare to say like a M3 2020, Golf R or a A4 S line etc?

Ah the fun we have as EV drivers ;)

On some trips in my V3 Born 77kWh I see 5.8 Miles/kWh but the actual average over 1500 miles is about 4.0 according to the car.

I get looks of surprise from EV naysayers when they moan about EV range and I tell them “this is giving me 300 - 340 miles of range right now”.

Test drive one. I’ve been in one a few times as a passenger and found it too harsh and this is from someone who prefers sportier stiff suspension. I found it more jittery than sporty (yes there’s a difference).

The guy who owns it didn’t even like it and laughed when I asked if suspension was an optional extra and he forgot to tick the box.

I had a MY '23 plate and the ride was very harsh, every bump and pothole felt horrendous and this was on 'softer' springs that were updated on our model.

Can't compare to any of the cars you note, but in all the cars I've had it most certainly was the harshest suspension.

My average is sitting at 4.5/kWh. Would be higher. But AC and Sports mode 2hich I use now and then don't help.

I cap charge to 80% but my last charge is did 100% and it showed range as 315 miles which was surprising as the car is rated for 285.

I am sure come winter it will drop to 250 miles.

Finally come to the end of a busy 10 days, new meters last week, EV charger installed today, collected the new car this afternoon. Octopus Go sorted yesterday. Was originally going Hypervolt 3 but changed to the Ohme Pro.

Just need to move a few more stones to make it all look neat again, but all in all happy with the charger install. Only minor gripe is the charger sticking out into a fairly narrow driveway, but will just need to be careful when leaving/parking.

Work colleague just collected a used BMW i4, on the drive home he found out that radar cruise wasn't enabled. After calling the dealership, its £750 to unlock it....

Otherwise its very capable cruiser

Looking at ordering a home charger and opted for an Ohme epod.

What are people's thoughts about installation, as in Ohme or another electrician?

The quote from Ohme is £1039 but that will go up with the mini CU by at least £100, so £1150 I reckon.

I found a firm called charge smart who quoted £957 including the CU, so that's looking good.

You can buy the Ohme epod for £500, so I've filled out a request for some quotes from independent electricians.

I'd like to find a trustworthy self employed sparky who is certified to install EVs to do it.

New secondary car for commute and mile munching duties..

(Obligatory light bar picture for now… :D)

2021 Ionic 5 Premium 58kWh for a decent price. 50k miles but full Hyundai service history with the ‘big’ service done. Overall in fantastic condition and has obviously been well looked after by the previous owner (owned from new… wincing at the depreciation….).

Sorting out the charging cables as they seem to have gone missing between purchase (remote - all showing in pictures) and delivery.

Decent journey tomorrow taking our model 3 in for some service/ warranty work so will be interesting to see the motorway efficiency (with my wife’s lead feet…). Mixed driving so far was showing 4.5kWh which is better than I was expecting.

What do we think of the IX3 neue klasse?

Preview tests seemed positive with regard to the feel of the car and the range seems pretty epic.

Any rumours about prices yet? My GV70 lease is up early next year and it could be in contention.

If you can put up with the way it looks, it seems pretty damn good.

I think the price will start from about £45k with a £250 monthly subscription. Probably.
