Mountain Biking

Might see if i can try one.

I keep getting in the trap of adding a bit more travel.

My ebike is my do it all bike. I have an enduro/bike park bike so 170mm travel is a little overkill for what i use the eeb for.

150/160 more playful slightly lighter is what im really after. Not to offset the climbs but more for the trails i tend to ride. Im doing a lot more steep technical (but slow descents) and also more jumps and fun stuff.
There’s always the 144. Pretty much the same bike with some travel and geo tweaks. Maybe worth a look with the offers currently.

I went all the way from 170mm to a hard tail, realised I was faster, now settled on 130mm rear 150mm front and it's perfect for almost everything for me, Dyfi and Stiniog zero problem, local loops are still fun as well.

If you can find somewhere to test ride one, the Forbidden Druid CorE would be worth a look. You'll need to look beyond the reach numbers but it ticks all the boxes.

I've not had a chance to take one out on a long ride, but a quick pedal around on one felt really nice.

is that not just a cap? Not sure what forks they are but on mine the black plastic cap twists off to reveal the actual rebound adjusters beneath.
No its the actual knob for rebound it's a ZEB fork
just found it weird all the bottom of the adjuster barrel has stripped off paint, I've hardly ever actually adjusted it

It does indeed. My LBS is a forbidden dealer but they are like rocking horse poo.

it is a perfect spec for me with the DJI tech. Only thing I would change is the rear shock to a coil and possibly the brakes.

Do you know anywhere that has one you can test ride?

Any Forbidden dealer will be able to get you one in, it's just that demo stock is in high demand right now and it might take a while to get your turn.

I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to see the model the rep was taking around the dealers, otherwise I'd have taken it out for a demo myself!

Looks like I was mistaken - Tweed Valley seem to have got their hands on the first demo bikes, everyone else is waiting on Forbidden to get stock and be able to supply. Likely you'll see bikes for sale before you'll see demo fleet opportunities.

Just spoke with my local Forbidden dealer and they aren't expecting to get their hands on one until much later in the year, if not early 2026.

EDIT: Another offering that caught my eye is the new Propain Sresh SL. I really, really like those TQ drive units and that's the form factor I hope we'll see adopted by more manufacturers as tech evolves.

That Propain does look nice! Slender compared to other eMTBs i have seen.

Getting the parts together to build the Nukeproof Scout up as an XC/ Light trail bike.
Had everything for 11 speed just needed a cassette and chain.
140mm Pikes, going to get some carbon rims on hope pro 5 CX ray spokes.
Got some old Easton Haven carbon bars, probably go for a OneUp V3 120mm to save some weight but not go without a dropper at all.
Racing Ralph/Racing Ray for tyres.

This is sort of what I did although mine was more lightweight trail rather than than XC. Get some pics up when it’s all done!

does the rebound adjustment knob on the bottom of everyone's fork have worn off paint? literally the rest of my bike still mostly looks new after 2 years ownership. was kind of surprised to see it looking so tarnished

My whole bike looks like this :p

The amount of rocks hitting down there its inevitable to look like that.

Anyone running SRAM mavens? If so opinions?

Ive not tried them but I am a fan of power when it comes to brakes. I like my saints on my analogue but love my shiguras on the eeb.
Trying to decide what to go with on my next eeb. Will be selling the old one and putting the Magura MT7s back to stock. Could buy some new MT7 callipers and go shigura again but tempted by mavens to see what the fuss is about.

previous use of SRAM brakes has not been good. So im sceptical. But as these are not dot fluid too im looking for a reason to try them.

I’m running maven silvers on my new turbo levo 4 with 220mm front and 200mm rear centreline rotors.

Coming from Deore XT’s on my hardtail the lever is a little bit harder to pull initially but I’ve not noticed any increased hand fatigue like mentioned by some reviewers. They have much more power on tap and the bite point is consistent, my XT’s suffered from a wandering bite point. I’m looking to swap the rotors out for SRAM HS2 soon which should increase the power further

Only issue I’ve had is that when I first got the bike after a couple of weeks the levers were pulling to the bars and needed pumping before working correctly. A trip back to the shop and a re-bleed following SRAMs procedure including the piston massage solved the issue and they’ve been solid ever since.

I’d definitely choose the mavens again if I was putting them on a new bike

I regularly bleed my brakes. Especially new ones.

Are they very on/off? or do they have good modulation?

I very much like a hard lever that is on/off with little lever movement. I also have my mouse at silly high sensitivity. Not for everyone but its what i like.

I paid €180 (£161) to a dodgy dealer.
He asked me to install Team Viewer, Teamviewer VPN.
I then waited for the payment to clear in his bank account.
He proceeds to take control of my PC like some digital poltergeist he manifests the bosch diagnostic tool.
as if by magic my Whyte Brand of bike is now a CUBE bicycle in the flow app.

Welcome to American speeds. 32km/h = 19.89mph, it's 20mph even if app says 19.

Only problem is if I manually update the firmware in the app, it goes back to UK peon limits.
someone said they tested it with a VPN on an apple phone and it still stuck though, so maybe it's possible as long as the bosch app thinks your still in america.

My motors already outside of warranty which I'd imagine would likely be gone, but I'm not sure as its done through a legit bosch dealer who has a bosch diagnostic login
Guy can do all Bosch btw even gen5.

Can't wait to ride, will be like an all new bike :D

With a Bosch motor you're better off fitting a speedi, it's mechanical rather than a chip, tricks the magnet into thinking you're going half the speed you actually are. So your top speed is now 23 mph ish instead of 15.5.

Can be removed easily at any time.

I can't I have the smart system, never seen anyone not have limp mode.
rather go "dodgy" but official way 20mph is more than fast enough for me.

I ride to the places I bike at and do a lot of 20-50mile touring style rides on dirt tracks... sucks to be 15mph on 20mph roads, well 20s still possible but its not easy with a 27kg bike and 100kg rider :O

Unlimited CX motor should be able to do around 27-29mph kinda sucks knowing that.... but I don't need those speeds anyway

Yep Bosch cx gen4 smart system, fully compatible.
It's where the speed magnet is placed that's the issue. If it's on the brake disc that's fine but if it's on the wheel then they've not made one for that (yet)

They’ve got more modulation than my shimanos but not much. If you’ve used other sram brakes such as codes they feel very similar but with loads more power

I have always avoided SRAM brakes lol. So never used them.

They are an expensive punt if I dont like them.

I think i will just buy some new Magura MT7 callipers and XT levers and make a new Shigura setup. Has been great for me.

thanks for your insight.
