*** Cyberpunk 2077 ***

I'm assuming you are not using mods

Apart from the obvious delete/reinstall, you could also try using an older version:

In the Steam Library right click on Cyberpunk|Properties|Betas|Beta Participation: select 2.21
Yeah, unmodded.

Tried everything I've seen online. Even running at a lower resolution, DLSS/FSR both turned on and off, raytracing on and off, still the same.

It's now downloading 2.21

[edit] Aaaand 2.21 crashed after 25 minutes.... :(

Wondering now if I need to do a fresh install of windows and give that a go instead

After last playing this some time in 2023, downloaded it again last week and have been having a blast. Very different game in so much as the spec trees were totally redone and it felt a lot more fluid gameplay wise. Working my way through side gigs and world events for a bit before I jump onto buying the new expansion but I've sunk 10 hours in the last few days so clearly enjoying something!

Took a punt on this while it was on sale, path tracing seems to be playable on 4070 at 1440, sometimes its great and sometimes you can tell it's just too dark and they didn't optimise for it. It's also got some denoise fill in stuff going on but that's just as good things get at the moment.

It's still a janky game, but I knew what I was getting myself into :)

Aye, I think using either a torch mod or a night vision mod is essential when using PT
I'll take a look thanks.

game makes me lol, has more issues that I thought:

Stairs and NPCs being one of them. Did not one person test this game and say, 'that's not very realistic'?

I walk everywhere coz otherwise I get into a random car with people shooting at me but I can't shoot back - that maybe a skill thing. Coz it's all new I like walking around.

Sometimes when I spin around groups of people disappear and reappear - I thought this was a day one bug, nearly 5 years of patching later and that's still a thing.

I hack someone so they overheat and explode or something - how do the others know it was me? I walked backwards and they didn't seem to follow, then saw a cop so hid behind him, then spun around and bang bad guys spawn again, the cop starts shooting at me! so I evaded everyone by slowly walking away and around a corner and then got some xp for of it, sweet.

I think the bad guys attacking you is triggered by the starting quest, if so its a one of trigger. You can fight back (default key to equip a weapon in a vehicle is left ALT, you can immediatly get out of the vehicle once the combat flag comes up and fight or flee. You can also evade in your car.

Walking around Night City is fun, I do it a lot.

They are on networks - there are ways around that involving levelling up/better equipment. Quickly killing them can work as well, though not always.

It's an ok game, it's got some really weird stuff going on that could have easily have been fixed.

If I happen to be around a group of people when saving a game and then reload, a completely different group of people spawn.

The weapon shops and comparison is so bad. Apparently in order to compare the weapon you want it has to be loaded into one of the slots. No mod exists that can fix it. ok.

Cruising around at 150mph distance headlights simply disappear as I get closer.. hmm ok.

I can't map everything to ESDF. ok.

I haven't really tried many graphics settings except default, full PT, disable motion blur, fov 90, seems to run at a playable speed, some rooms are literally completely black :) but also pretty.

I've played a few longer sessions, I never restart Windows except for updates, for the first time the game was hitching/stuttering a lot, I think there is some memory leak or something coz total memory usage was at 56GB , rebooted Windows fixed it. The game hasn't crashed though.

Favourite part so far: NPCs making a big deal about needing to be super stealthy on a mission. I immediately go in through the front door with my shotgun. Then the game obviously was supposed to setup a big fight to get out again - everyone's already dead guys don't worry about it :)

Worst part so far: scripted car chases (same mission), wouldn't let me use the weapon I wanted, forced me to use crapo pistol or shotgun, but it actually didn't seem to matter if I actually took the cars out or not, we still reached the end.

I think coming off the back of TLOU and Baldur's Gate 3 has raised my expectations along with motion capture and lip syncing.
