Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 25th August 2025]

If we're talking decisions so marginal, I'd like to know why Trippier and Guimaeres got away with obvious yellows before Gravenberch got booked for Joelinton falling on his arse all in the first 6 or 7 minutes.

The ref was an abomination, but he was 100% Newcastle until Liverpool scored.

Just back from the match and what a good game, I do think without Gordon’s head loss moment we get something from that and with a proper striker on the pitch we win that easily, but that’s how the cookie crumbles. I did fear the worst when he lost his head, but how we performed after was outstanding, at times it looked like Liverpool were down to ten. Ref was **** and needs shot, let way too much go, from both teams, would like to look at the first goal again though as where i stand in the strawberry corner, his foot was well over the line from the throw in, in the build up to the goal.
I thought the Ref was highly inconsistent. In the first half he gave Newcastle everything and Liverpool nothing until the red card, which clearly was a red.

which he didn't give. And it was a clear red.

"highly inconsistent". He was a ****ing homer until he realised he was being shown up.

Where I stand is directly in line with the touch line and it definitely looked like his foot was over it, which is why i would like to have another look

Edit just had a look on the NUFC forum and nothing is mentioned about it before the goal, so i must be wrong
To be honest I think when Trent used to take thrown ins they were probably mostly illegal, especially in his early days, one foot was regularly off the floor. Lots probably go unnoticed every game week but the lino's probably just aren't looking half the time

Take your blinkers off son, ref was **** for both sides, but your lot got away with just as much as we did, twice the ref told Alison to drop the ball so he didn’t have to give a corner, whoever was playing right back should have been booked for at least 3 fouls stopping attacks

Can't complain about my new seat. I'm a bit gutted as I had one of the best seats at Goodison for about 20 years, but the new place feels good. I can't wait to see it under the lights.

Good spot. I like being along an 18 yard line.

So which end is the "away" end?

I was right on the halfway line before so it's going to take some getting used to. The away section is just down to my right, in the corner. The south stand looks impressive, it's pretty steep. I didn't have a proper look around yesterday though as I was trying to figure everything out, but once I've got my bearings, it'll be good to scope it all out.

Good performance all things considered but I am struggling to see any positives other than the work and effort the players put in, but thats never been in question over the last few seasons. I suppose we are a point better off at this stage than I thought we'd be. Injuries and suspensions kicking in already

ha. Not really though eh.

No non-reds being corrected by VAR for a start were there.
Yep 100% a homer ref, is as I said the ref was ***** for both teams, don’t act like you got **** all from him all night, VAR gave a pen to Manu for the same thing the day before, and refs have been told to clamp down on holding in the box

Sandro is the worry for me, we see that game out last night, if he’s still on the pitch.

As a neutral - fabulous game - highly enjoyable all round.

Gutted for Newcastle - heart, determination, commitment when down to 10 men and really battered Liverpool from the 1st minute.

Very harsh on Newcastle at the end, thought Bruno G was superb for Newcastle.

Liverpool very very lucky to get 3 points from that.

As a neutral I’d like to point out that’s not remotely the same as the one Utd were given. The Fulham player literally swung him around to the floor did he not? That one above happens in every game and is rarely given, I suspect Liverpool players were doing same thing last night.
