Alien TV series (Alien Earth) : 2025

I don’t know what it is, but it’s not Alien. Not worthy of the name.

The Alien universe has a wider theme and tenaciously has connections to Blade Runner and Firefly which this show draws on a fair bit. The development of cybernetics is a big part of the universe. I think they could have done a lot better with what they had to work with though - the initial setup was very Alien(s) and a lot of interesting stuff they could have done with it. I'm on the fence with it so far.

I'm ok with it, but think this, and others films and TV series lately, seems like the characters tend to be a bit dull or bland. I often don't really get to know or care about characters. I think the alien universe is one of my favourites so helps with this, and the detail is great

I can't say I've been overwhelmed with this show. Three episodes in I'm still not hooked and I actually started nodding off during the third episode, though alcohol may have been a factor there too :), but I didn't feel inclined to rewatch bits I may have missed.

I’ve enjoyed it. There hasn’t been enough of it for me to have any particularly strong view, not an overly negative one at least. I like what they might go on to explore with the droids and ‘company dealings’.

Re: ‘how does she hear the alien?’ - do people have absolutely no tolerance for things not being explained / understood immediately? :o :p

There’s not really anything to figure out anyway - she’s a super duper android that can process things in a turbo way. Didn’t the trillionaire guy say that children are able to understand things in a way that adults cannot (like languages)? My hunch is that this has something to do with it… her childish ability to learn plus supercomputer powers = this.

Alien is hardly a premium franchise, the first 2 movies excepted most of them are turds, some finely polished turds. We can all agree it's not as good as Alien or Aliens and thus far it is definitely better than AvP, AvP Requiem and Alien Ressurection. So 3 episodes in we're arguing it's relative place aagainst Alien 3 and the divisive Prometheus and Covenant. Well I like Alien 3 and I think P+C and beautiful but awful. So for me it ranks against the top 50% of Aliens movies. Sorry no Romulus I haven't seen it.

I got about half way through episode 1and switched it off. The flashed images to give it a horror vibe felt cheap and irritating and out of kilter with the way the best of the franchise has worked, and rest was boring. Pity.

Glad some folks are having a good time with it.

Seems like a mixed bag of opinions on this one!

I'll wait until the nights draw in and watch it, going into it with middling expectations and hope to be mildly surprised. FX doesn't have much of a track record making bangers.

Got to laugh at people moaning about kids in the show, with Aliens having one of the most **** wooden child actor performances of all time as a central plot point :P
