Ok this weekend i have the chance to purchase a herman miller aeron B refurbished for £230 from a geezer on facebook market place.

this guy looks to have sold at least 20 chairs in what i can only describe as mint condition, no cash up front no down payment allowed to try before paying.
its black body/frame with a royal red mesh.

so what do i need to look for to avoid buying a lemon? can you get fake hm's? the mesh looks connected to the frame correctly, i know to look for the logo and the little bumps to tell the size.

what else?

Yeah there are tons of the classic versions on FB marketplace due to their age. Whats your verdict on it ?

if you inspect the chair and its real and serviced properly with OEM parts then the chair will last another 20 years. The material on the aerons are very durable, specially when compared to the logitec embody, not that the embody is cheap or badly made.

Best chair I’ve ever purchased, mine was second hand 15 years ago and still going strong

It was more aluding to the fact the real prize for me is the newer version of it with the improvements. Loads of bargains on the classic ones due to companies selling up and office clearences and upgrades etc

I bought one several years ago via a reseller, I cannot fault it. Also nice to have it consistent with chair I used in the office

when doing my research before the classic chair is better made than the new revision, only issue I had with the chair is still not addressed in the new chair, so not much different for me. The revision has some improvements in the recline pressure, armrest rotation and their forward and backward movement plus seat movement control. Honestly these are not worth paying £800 for when you can get the older revision for £300. That is my personal view and I prefer comfort more and the seat is softer on the older one. Chairs are personal so what I like is not necessary good for someone else.

if you are on a budget getting a refurbished older revision is still much getter than gaming chairs that's for sure.

I think different people suit different chairs. No different to the people targetting RTX 5090 wouldnt be looking at RTX 5070 even though they are cheaper and decent.

£300 is a good deal for a classic but seen some remastered ones go for £500.

I'm no longer after a chair due to unique circumstances but appreiciate them and find this sub forum interesting

I appreciate that but will add the difference between 5090 and 5070 is MUCH bigger than the difference between the two chair revisions but I get your point. If anyone can get new revision for £500 then that's a good buy also.
