Playing through my dodgy elbow which I'm sure is the right choice :p

Played in the roll-up on Friday, pretty bad really, maybe doing comps/putting cards in when injured isn't the best idea... Just a scruffy triple on the first then 2 big pulls with the driver on the second (both dead) meant the comp was basically over... Actually did for a bit after that with 2 bogeys and 4 pars but then messed up the last (another big pull with the driver, you think I'd learn!) so meh.

Then today I played the Stranahan course of The Players, just north of the M4/by Chipping Sodbury. Played there once before, back in April 9th 2023 when I was less than a year into golf. The plus point is I absolutely smashed my PB  Terrible front 9 though, +6 on the back 9 though so something?

Kinda surprised though as the course conditionof the Stranahan was pretty bad really, they have two courses there and the Stranahan is the 'cheap' one at £36, the Codrington is £70-ish, but really did look a bit unloved. They're hosting part of the DP World Tour Q School in a couple of days on the Codrington so maybe that but honestly even for £36 it seemed poor.

I also forgot that the layout is a bit mental, lots of holes really close to/crossing over each other, shocked I've played there twice and never been hit by a ball but a couple bounced closer than I'd like.

Didn't watch it live but so good to see this morning :D 164 attempts to get a win, must feel pretty good :p

Although... Not trying to take anything away but the fact he wins the FedEx OOM for that is crazy, such a stupid setup.

Now onto the Ryder Cup :D

Amazing for Fleetwood, great guy!

Don't think I heard a single USA-USA chant either which is testament to the rapport he has with the fans over there.

Little bit of gloating after yesterday's round.
Society day at Kennilworth Golf Club with 42 participants. never played there before but have to say mightily impressed. Each hole is different and some holes very challenging.

Finished with a score of 78 (Par 71) and 38 stableford points with one blob (7) but I finished each hole and winner of Division 1 by 2 points. playing 95% handicap so was playing off 9. Normally 9.7
My short game and putting was excellent. This helped myself score on at least 5 holes. Especially the closing 18th Par 3 where I pushed my 8 iron 20 yards right off the green yet managed a chip on to within 2ft and nice easy put to finish and grab 2 more points for par.

It was great to see the USA fans cheering him the way they did when you consider it was an American on his heels.

The fact that his game didn't start to fall off after the disappointment a few weeks ago is mightily impressive - he only seemed to get better.

Yeah agreed 100%, exceptionally impressive resilience to keep his lead

What about all the BS afterwards. I can understand PGA officials and sponsors wanting to have their photo taken with Tommy and the trophy, but the randoms after, even the chef managed to crash the party. Quiet comical really, Tommy showed more patience than I would have afforded.

All part and parcel of the PGA Tour/sponsors etc - They pony up the money so players need to accept that photo's/time/chats etc with these guys

I currently use Golfshot Pro on my iPhone and watch, which is soon due for renewal @£62. Can you guys suggest another app that would offer similar features for iOS? Doesn’t necessarily have to work on the Apple Watch.

decent Saturday last week, managed 37 points in the stableford, missed out by 2 points which was ultimately down to a few 3 putts which was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was going round in 82, not losing a ball and holing out on each hole.

Sunday, played in a local open comp and didn't putt well at all and had a couple of bad holes which made a mess of the card. To make it worse on the 18th playing from the rough what looked like a good lie turned out to be concealing a solid object in front of my ball which led to an exceptionally sore wrist for the last few days. Lots of ice seems to be working though and it's moving well today so should be good for the weekend.

Keegan does NOT pick himself.

  • Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau qualified
  • Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns are captain's picks

Kinda surprised he didn't pick himself, especially given his form recently. Probably better for us to be against JT rather than Keegan though

Out again today for a 9-hole rollup, my game is a real mess right now. 6 pars and 3 triples. It's either reasonable/good or awful. Similar on Monday where it was 1 birdie, 3 pars, 9 bogeys and 5 triples. It's not even close to a bogey when it goes wrong it just all goes to...

PGA Tour has been great viewing this year, think I've watched pretty much all of it right from the start and it's been good to see some new players come through or establish themselves more.

Conversely, I think the DP World Tour has been far less entertaining compared to the last few years. Potential for a very good Ryder Cup.

Heading up to Southerness on Sunday, followed by Dumfries & County on Monday and Powfoot on Tuesday with our mixed group at the club

Last year we did blind pairs for partners on the second and third day so you had no idea who your day score would be with as it might not be anyone in the group you actually played with, alongside both individual and couples overall scoring which made for a fun few days

Hoping the weather isn't as bleak as the forecast is suggesting at the moment

On Firday I played Pyle & Kenfig, another of the NCG Top 100 Tour events, really nice course... Front 9 was kinda between parkland and heathland almost, really enjoyed it and thought that was good, but the back 9 is where it gets really good, changes to definite links with some massive dunes. Game was like recently just a bit bipolar, some really good golf with pars and I think 1 birdie but just too many awful holes which end up being triples as pickup/blobs.

But really nice course though, definitely on the list to play again sometime!

Today I played at Woodlands in Bristol again, playing the easier Signature course as I've stopped playing there quite so regularly and haven't actually played the Signature course in a good while so requested it. Not ideal weather for it, very windy and also had two periods of pretty heavy rain which was unpleasant. But the golf was solid though, first hole is a par 5 and I've rarely even tried to go for the green in 2 but being heavily downwind I went for it with my 7w, it was ~200 to the front of the green and I went long! Garmin says it was 245 yards! Anyway chipped on and 2-putt for par. Par'd the second and then comes the third...

Another par 5, dogleg left where you need about 220-ish to get a clear shot through a gap in the trees and maybe 270-ish is long, so kinda feels like not really a driver anymore (in summer with rollout and a touch of help from the wind at least!) so hit my 5w and it was perfect, 239 apparently, then with the turn the wind is now definitely helping and similar 200 to the front as the first hole I went 5i, more so because long is dead so was semi-expecting it to the short but hit a lovely shot and it rolled on, good times. Still had 20ft to go, slightly downhill and right to left, hit a lovely putt that never looked like missing, Eagle!

Technically my second eagle as I got a hole in one ages ago now but that never felt like an eagle really so I'm counting today as my first eagle :p I've also never seen the EG app show -2 under my score before! Doubled the next to fix that though

Then on the 16th, a relatively short dogleg left par 5 but usually (and today was no exception) into wind which I've often thought as a possible eagle chance I almost made my second. Solid drive that was 'only' 210 with the wind into, great 6 iron onto the green left a fairly decent length putt that juuuuust lipped out! Tap in birdie tho.

Overall the round wasn't that great, 87 on an easy course, but felt great as although I had a bunch of doubles they never felt like the complete blow up messes I've had recently...
