WEED KILLER

I tried Greenforce and Westland weed and feed. Still have some broad leaf weeds, a few different types.

Any more suggestions?

Here are the ****s:

Do you think Dicophar will kill 'em? @Armageus @Richie Triclopyr? @robj20

Dandelion and Ox-Tongue by the looks of it.

Try Dicophar. It has the "big 3" of 2,4-D, Dicamba and MCPA as its active ingredients but safe on grass

EDIT: Be aware that some of them kill the weeds by increasing their growth to the point that the cell structures cannot support the accelerated growth and then it dies. WHat you will physically see is the weed getting bigger and appear to be thriving but this is only initially and then it will die. Too many people don't realise this and say th weedkiller was crap.

Thanks.

How long should I wait? It's been a couple of weeks.

The weather probably hasn't helped as the weeds need to be actively growing so the heat and drought will, like most plants, have slowed them down. If the plant is not growing, then the weedkiller won't work very well.

I'd give it another application and then give it 3-4 weeks.

Thanks, I'd rather that than keep buying more chemicals!

I could always water the weeds :D

For a few bigger weeds like those, personally I'd just dig them out with a trowel

Dicophar should work though and will kill clover and other stuff that you can't remove as easily

You could also just pop the spike of a mini fork in and then pull it out.

Standard ‘lawn’ (grass safe) weed killer should kill all those but as others have said, you need the weeds to be actively growing for it to work.

The weed and feed did a good job and killed quite a few of the other weeds, it's these buggers that are left now. Good call about digging them out, ground is a bit dry now mind.

I might buy a shank and then walk around with it on display  I did try the weed and feed, to no avail. Green force reckons it should do the job so I'm happy to wait a couple more weeks to see if there is any progress.

The other option is to leave them over winter and tackle next year? I'll spray a bit more chem on but will likely have to do some digging/removal in spring anyway, as new stuff will grow.

I'll feed the lawn again once we get some rain though

I'm in need of a weed killer that will kill grass. I have a small garden and it was hideously overgrown so I paid someone to clear it and it was amazing. Garden was tidy and felt bigger. The surface is mainly gravel with a small patio in one corner. Barely a week after the clearance I went into the garden to put a cover over my garden table in preparation for the autumn/winter wet, cold weather when I spotted grass growing through the gravel. Obviously it was just waiting for the garden weeds and brambles to be cleared so it wouldn't have any competition and I'm now considering setting up a local sports club capable of hosting football, cricket, rugby, tennis, you name it any sport needing a grass surface.

The guy who did the clearance put down lots of weed killer but it was for weeds, obviously, and not grass. I did buy something for weeds from Morrisons but its only good for weeds and not grass. I have used it on the front of the house where I have some weeds outside the front door but I am in need of some kind of weed killer that will kill the grass. Is there anything out there I can buy that will help me? The gardener will come back sometime and fit a weed membrane but until then I need to kill the grass. Any ideas? :)

Something glyphosphate based will do the job. Buy it concentrated from Amazon/online rather than the weaker stuff from a retail store, it goes a lot further for the cost.

i have fought a battle all year with buttercups. there is something therapeutic about pulling up all the runners and tracing them back to the deeper root bit and yanking that out. it is amazing how quick it spreads though

This stuff is great. About as high a comcentration you can get at home without having a licence for commercial grade.
Rightly or wrongly you can buy this without a license

I think a ban on glyophosphate might be considered in the UK with the approval on its sale/use coming up for renewal at the end of this year. Might be worth stocking up some now :D
