Iraola seems to be the next manager in line for a ‘big 6’ job…

Marco Silva too.

Watched Amorim's comments after the match. It's damning but illustrates that there remains a pervasive mental weakness and lack of leadership in that team. Still too many egos that are Instagram stars first and team players second.

I’m not sure about that really. The main lack of leadership I saw last night was from a manager hiding in a dugout like a weak little man…

Should he have run onto the field and taught Onana how to save a shot? Mainoo how to pass the ball? Dorgu how to cross? Wild this is all being pinned on him. Twelve months ago you were all calling for ETH to be sacked and saying any manager would make the players better and here we are again and having the exact same discussion.

Exactly. They said the same about Ole who was not a touchline ranter. I feel for the guy - he's giving everything but not seeing any progression on matchdays. It's player mentality. Not the formation, the system or the coach. The common thread is the players and a seeming lack of on pitch leadership. This club needs a titan on the pitch not on the touchline.

He’s been given a lot of time and we’re just going backwards, again. I think his win % against current PL sides is 14%…

You seriously think that would have happened last night if the team was confident and coached well? No chance.

Amorim has been cut a lot of slack as people like him, but the veil is slipping now. He can’t motivate players and his tactics are demonstrable garbage, and he absolutely refuses to change anything.

On top of all this, he seems to be indicating he wants to leave…

I’ve read that their shortlist would consist of Glasner and Iraola. Glasner would be a good shout.

I’m still undecided on how I feel about the whole thing. We need a new GK and Midfielder. Amorim is at fault for being so rigid, and hiding away. Can he legislate for continued ill discipline midway through a game and continuous individual errors though?

They seem mentally fragile. It’s never going to improve in terms of how the team is under the microscope, so I’m not really sure how the fragility improves other than through winning.

One thing that always gets me is how vulnerable we are if a team is really aggressive and pressing in the first 15-20 mins. It’s such a simple thing to coach for the opposition, just go at us from the off and you’re golden.

No but he could try to do something different.

Since EtH has left the team has gotten even worse, and that's with new players!

It's clearly not just the manager but if things don't improve quickly he will surely be gone. How long do you leave it? That's the billion dollar question.

Realistically there's a chance we get to November with very few points on the table. Then what?

Disagree. We've got plenty of good players on the pitch, but they are being coached to try and play a system that doesn't work. That's why they are looking lost and frustrated.

No leader on the pitch is going to wave a magic wand and stop our midfield getting swamped and turned over all the time.

I don't think Man United are playing that badly? Just had a couple of hard results so far. The expectation is too high.
Expecting the beat Grimsby is not too high.

Hopefully it's just a one off. However, I think Amroim has won something like 14 matches? And 7 of those in Europe? Doesn't bode well.

Ange started off well at Spurs too so it is too early to tell. Everyone was creaming over his high line but teams adapted. Frank basically has a free card at the moment until teams start to suss him out.
Give over, anyone who watches football can see Spurs have a system now and are much harder to beat, the fact we're only 2 games in and it's so obvious proves that. Amorim after....what is it 30 odd games hasn't even been able to show 3 consecutive decent performances, no-one has had to even sus him out which speaks volumes.

Did he not? Everyone was complaining that Mainoo wasn't playing so he plays 90 mins and he was crap. He took off both wingbacks and tried attacking players there (Mount who was good and Amad who was dreadful) What more can he try?

I dunno, I'm not a manager, 4-3-3 is what everyone is saying
