I’m backwards and forwards on Isak going at the minute.
Part of me thinks refuse the sale, he will end up playing again so we keep a world class striker.
But other part of me thinks, just sell, get max value for him now and if that means we replace with 2 x B standard strikers so be it. If we refuse sale, the situation is perceived to be so toxic, will his attitude poison the dressing room, and the cloud will just hang over us every transfer window til he goes regardless now.
I’m actually leaning towards sell up even if we replace with sub standard. Then try really work a deal to bring in a proper replacement next summer from now and not wait and suffer another disaster striker transfer window.
Either way, Eddie will be pulling up trees again this season getting max out of what he has or will get. If we get top 4/5 again this season, Eddie Howe deserves something special, at the very least he deserves the owners to just say here you go, here is 500 million or something stupid, let’s just chin PSR off and really go for it, who do you want?
You’re absolutely right no player is bigger than the club, but I think the biggest problem we have now is, in my opinion we have to make a stand, if we’re seen to be bullied into selling for less than we have stated all summer (£150m), the same thing will happen to us next season with any of the stand out players, I have no problem selling Isak to Liverpool but it has to be on our terms not Isak’s or Liverpool’s.My opinion is that no player is bigger than the club. Plenty of players have forced a move away from Liverpool and I've always been happy to see the back of them. If a player doesn't want to play for us, he can do one. I'm always happy to take the money and invest in new players who do want to play for the club.
