I said this to Utd fans and on here what did Utd fans actually expect most of the squad is the same yet some how expected it to be different just cause he had a preseason
yup, 3 new players in forward positions is great and all that but there are still glaring holes in the team (midfield and goalkeeper for instance) on top of that it was a second string lineup yesterday - that was a mad decision imo, amorim should be playing his best team at every opportunity for now to try and build up momentum and cohesion. of course the players on the pitch were, in theory, more than good enough to beat Grimsby but i just think it was a bit silly playing what was in effect the second team at this point in the clubs overhaul.

but this expectation from some of my fellow utd supporters that we should be pushing for top 4 just because of a decent pre season and the 3 new lads coming in are off their heads.

No one is expecting that - Don't be ridiculous. Anyone saying that is just utterly deluded and needs sectioned.

What we should expect at least after spending £200 million on 3 new attacking players is some decent chances being created, some actual commitment/passion from the players, and some actual proper coaching/guidance from the manager/head coach.

Again United left stinking the place out with multiple players on the books/ridiculous contracts that have zero interest in leaving - no one willing to take those players on unless a massive cut price deal is agreed, 2 keepers that look like schoolboys when a cross comes into the box and yet again look like they have no clue how to create goalscoring chances - no crosses, no through balls, no creativity, nothing for fans to actually think " I see some progress here"

It's a mess of a club still from top to bottom despite the promises of IENOS and Glaziers.

we went 30 years with no league title, I can see Utd doing exactly same if not longer.

The players cannot or will not do his tactics flipside to that is his formation or tactic don’t appear to work in this league

Again could argue your squad doesn’t have right players for it and I don’t think it does but again your manager doesn’t show much flexibility to adjust when it’s tough to get pts on the board.

Your clubs whole situation is a mess. Glazers need out entirely not half in and Ineos possibly gone too.

A full take over and reset has to happen I’d say outside looking in for any chance of full changes occuring
It's not just the fans expectations though, is it? It's INEOS setting the aim of winning the league in 2028. Wanting to finish in a European spot this season. It's the relentless media.

Most fans will have a moan but ultimately be happy if we can string some performances together, never mind the results (for now). Take the Arsenal match as an example, that level of focus and determination every match would be fine.

I don't think we can judge the new players within 3 matches. Also, Sesko is raw, only one step up from Rasmus.

I ain't judging them - I'm very happy with the purchases, but as a team, including the new 3 players, we don't appear to have created much in 3 games already this season. That's disappointing to see. Yes- time to bed in etc but we all know - there is very very little time given to players/coaches etc by the media and fans if they don't produce something quickly.

100% - I was happy with the Arsenal performance, but that can't be the 1 in 5 decent performances they put up, then go missing in the next 4 games.

After internationals - United have Burnley at home, City (away), Chelsea at home, Brentford, Sunderland then Liverpool in mid October. I reckon he's got those games to prove he's the man for the job with a few results and some good performances....... If we loose 3 or 4 of them, he's gone. They sacked ETH in Mid October last time.

I ain’t being ridiculous, wish I bloody well was - there’s people on these very forums have said exactly that. There’s a not insignificant number of our supporters are properly off their heads. I’m assuming it’s younger fans who’ve been brought up on the clubs success under fergie. Sadly I’m just about old enough to remember the painful years before SAF.

Just like many United supporters today, I am frustrated and disappointed with how our season has started. The games are not going to get any easier anytime soon, but I would like to see our manager given a little longer to prove his worth.
New players will take time to gel, and the goalkeeping errors only drain the confidence of the team.

I know it won’t happen, the players need to support and believe in what Amorim is trying to do!

Stick, for now!

It's been the same since Fergie left 13 years ago, I vote long term cast iron contract where they cannot sack him

The best manager the club has had since Fergie was Moyes.

Unfortunately the fans thought it would be business as usual and they would win the league at a canter because they are Man Utd.

It has just been downhill since then.

I've been thinking about this all day, and if we're being realistic, the answer would reluctantly have to be: sack him.

There's been zero progress implementing his unorthodox tactical style on the team. I don't think a single player knows their position or how it works, and this is simply not acceptable for a top level manager. His complete refusal to adjust his tactics is astounding - he said he'd rather be sacked than try something else. Of course the players can do much better, but a competent manager could be getting more out of them.

The images of him hiding in the dugout and shuffling his little pieces on his tactics board won't soon be forgotten, and then he was unable to face watching the penalties. The optics are horrifically bad when your £700m team is being played off the park by Grimsby.

I actually do like Amorim and I think he has some good traits, but I think this job is just way too much for him. I'd like to see him take stock of everything, and put out a team in a 433/4231/whatever and try something different. It's not rocket science if you are a capable coach. As this isn't likely to happen, it's difficult to support him.

Obviously the main thing in his favour here is that we're only 3 games into the season. We did quite well against Arsenal, despite losing, but Fulham was only a marginal improvement on last season's dire performances - and now this...

Once again, what a mess.

Should have sacked him in May. Bloke is a fraud and being found out at every turn. One of the richest and most successful clubs in the world and his tactic is chucking Maguire up front on 80 minutes.
Club continues it's journey backwards. I'd dump him in the International break and make Eddie Howe an offer he couldn’t refuse.

While I have found all the gifs and videos taking the pee out of Amorim using the tactics board quite funny admittedly, I also think it’s a bit harsh mocking someone trying to figure out what to do and using a tool to do so. Fine, it’s Grimsby and he could just throw the players on the pitch and say ‘play’, but fair play for him trying to figure it out. Albeit failing miserably.

I do think that's fair, and I don't want to mock him, he's clearly a decent guy. I would actually like him to somehow fix things and stay, but I just can't see it happening...

I’m trying to take the view that last season was a write off and this is where he should now be judged like any new coach, new players and a new season. We can’t just write off all of last season, then give a few games of a season and that’s that. Otherwise what was the pain, and there was a lot of pain, for?

To me, this means he’s lost 2, one of which was admittedly horrific, and drawn one. Both PL games there were signs that you’d expect of something ‘new’, some good passages followed by some bad. That would be expected normally. If he doesn’t win against Burnley, then you would normally start to hear murmurings.

I’m hoping he gets a GK and Midfielder now that sales are coming in, maybe that will unlock something.

If it doesn’t, then once more round the houses we go and the poisonous cycle continues and the season is probably another write off.

Maybe I’m just getting old and wore down by it all, but more change is just going to wear my interest down further than it already has.
