Also 2 squid

Picked this one up...

Crazy cheap currently for some reason.

How effective are these, whilst not compromising the VR experience.? I am struggling a little to think of it as being decent.?

depends what your looking for really, its not totally immersion breaking.
it allows air flow and you can see what's around you on side if you need to, use full for keeping your spatial orientation.

i only recommend it with prescription lens if you were glasses though. i don't have those at the moment so stopped using the interface as it was a tad to close to my face.

I bought it (at full price, grumble, grumble) thinking that I would wear it:
  • For Beat Saber so my face would be cooler (which it does indeed make a difference for)
  • For games which are AR (e.g. jigsaw puzzle games) because it wouldn't make any difference.
And would switch back to the full interface for anything else. In reality (admittedly because I'm rather lazy) I've never taken it off since I fitted it. Once you're invested in a game, you (or at least I) don't really notice that I can see the room I'm in in the very limits of my peripheral vision. And it's rather useful for knowing where I am!

If you did want to switch back and forth, it only takes a few seconds.

Thanks. At the price, bought.

If anything it will save the cat being stood on, maybe......
Good point about Beat Sabre, that'll be useful.

Alsi, I do like MR games, point taken about it not really mattering.

triangle strategy
&
tactica

would be the ones that interest me the most.
im sort of on fence about future purchase via meta

Perhaps more to add. Do you know how long the sale will be going on for..?

I get your point about Meta purchases, differing to PCVR titles. It is just that they do have some decent buy, and their headsets are affordable and working, apart from their seeming chaotic approach to firmware releases.

end Monday looking at the details

i was going to say about end of life dates but on reflection they havent eol the q2 yet, and programs like Virtual Desktop do help extend the life of the head set as PCVR devices.

but your completely correct on the decent buys and affordability or the headsets.
im not keen on the direction they are heading with the meta univers, home enviroment changes, it feels very much like they arent lissening to user base.

As long as they are the only company that offer what they do then I can't see that situation being incentivised to change.
It will never happen, well probably, but could you imagine how the Meta store / platform could be if they opened it up to other headset owners to buy apps and games from them.? Providing those headsets were made with a std of compatibility in mind.
I can understand why there are so many reasons that will not happen.
In the meantime...... the niche aspect of Meta and VR stumbles along, almost singlehandedly in attempting to mainstream it.
