EV general discussion

I think that’s for an outright purchase, basically the reason used Taycan have low demand.
Directors can buy new ones for more favourable conditions than used.
I did a quick search and it looked as though HP was permissible as well as outright but PCP and lease don't count - but i'm not an accountant and you can't trust everything online :D

Yeah i was hoping it'd be a bit cheaper, I did get an itemised quote and it does include putting in a 6 way CU, 6x double sockets, 1x 16amp commando socket for my welder in the garage and connecting up 4x strip lights i already have so that's a fair bit of work before you even get to the EV charger install so maybe its not that bad in the end.

The garage is a bit away from the house as well so i need 30m of 10mm SWA which isn't cheap.

Supply, install, and secure 10mm SWA cable using cleats.
Run Cat6 cable through customer-supplied ducting.
Terminate SWA cable into existing consumer unit.
Gland and earth both ends of SWA armouring.
Install 50A MCB to serve as a designated sub-main circuit.
Fit and mount a backboard for the garage consumer unit.
Supply and install a 6–7 way consumer unit complete with SPD and 4x RCBOs for designated circuits.
Supply, wire, and install a 16A socket.
Wire and install EV charger point (EV charger to be supplied by customer).
Supply, wire, and install 6x double sockets (including 1 existing socket location).
Connect existing lighting circuit into new garage consumer unit.

That sounds a lot more like £2.5k worth :).

what was the mileage on that?
Any of tesla's approved used ive seen have been a couple thousand more than anywhere else. would happily pay a bit more to get the year of tesla extended warranty but cant find any at the price you paid
66k, Tesla will offer an extra year's warranty regardless of mileage if you buy through their AUC.
(1 yr/10k miles)

I've spent a lot of time researching the limited company thing and you can lease, PCP etc. Through it and EV have much lower benefit in kind, which makes it worth it. You can use it for personal use no problem, and claim back 50% VAT. If you can prove it's purely for business use you can claim back 100%.

And obviously, lease, insurance, tax, repairs, maintenance all reduce your tax bill.

This is not really a thing anymore, not sure it was even a thing in the first place.
Ah fair enough. I don't track prices all that much. Just made sense in my head that the period where the PCP glut comes in would be when the prices dip. I just paid whatever I thought sensible for my M3 LR (well, there was basically minimal cost to change once I sold my 440i, so this was a major factor)

born mot today as 3 yrs old. 29k. Ends 5th sept but no delivery date on the VZ yet so will roll over. We all got tow bars in March so zenith gave us v5 numbers which avoided taxing it ;).

Agile free and negative all tomorrow so set the ohme for first time at don’t charger over 0p. Impressed with the integration into the car and octopus to tell you how much charge it will hit and the sesssions etc.

Setup Joosup and cocharger today too. Doubt I’ll get anything but thought I’d at least offer it up.

if fleet/biggest-segment ev purchases follow local water board , schedule is now a minimum 3 years, max 60K or 5 years - so their sale onto the open market can be spread across the year.
( whether that is ev specific or just cost-saving I don't know)

Dont understand how that’s different to typical

They were but upon taking it to a body repair shop he highlighted a plethora of other damage and issues. They sold the car being in brilliant condition, no dents/dings and all alloys in excellent condition.

There was a lot of discussion at the dealership when I found the damage and I was going to reject then but they were pushy with me taking the car away and sorting it after saying their own body repair shop will do it.

They’re saying it can’t be rejected as it’s cosmetic and that because it’s not the brand which they sell the laws don’t apply.

After nearly a month the car was finally collected and the full balance refunded.

The car ended up being dry stored and legal back and forth with the dealership. What an absolute pain in the bum. Any opportunity to drag their heels was taken.

Made me much more vigilant with purchasing a used vehicle now. I found more damage on it as glass was trapped in the door seals. So left me with so many questions. A Tesla certified repairer was going to charge £3800.

Now on the hunt for another Model 3. 2022/23 M3P or a 2024 M3LR AWD. What I didn’t realise from the outset is how much I like the Model 3. It slots perfectly into my life as an appliance and leaves me with a GSXR1000R for fun and my modified Fiesta ST when I want to be a teenager again. It’s just the perfect commuter to be stuck behind a tractor going 40mph…

It’s going to be a grey M3P or a Quicksilver LR with Nova wheels. I seem to always want a unicorn spec. Especially now since I won’t be buying from one of the biggest used Tesla dealers.

Going on my first long-distance road trip today (320 miles) let's see how the model 3 fares over an ICE vehicle

It'll be the same, just more relaxing. :)

Also if you need to charge away from a domestic type-2 (at all) then use the ABC method when you stop for toilet/drink etc. ABC = Always Be Charging since 5 minutes or charging is better than zero.

How is the fluidity of the second screen? 2 years ago I was on the fence about getting one, but demo'd one in one of our sales guys cars and found it a bit laggy and not that fluid in terms of update rate so just decided not to bother and I've kind of stopped wanting one, the main screen suffices.
I've got the latest F9 pro screen. Very fluid and not laggy in the slightest. Updates as quickly as the main screen does. Can highly recommend.
I've used the driver's screen for the last few days now.Just to add...

A major bonus is that the blind spot monitoring is always active and shows up on the driver's screen even when not indicating. Without the screen the blind spot monitoring only shows on the main central screen when you indicate (but a bit pointless as who the hell looks at the central screen to turn/lane change lol).
The blind spot monitoring is displayed as a yellow/red bar on either side of the driver's screen and easy to see in the peripheral vision. A lot more convenient/ergonomic and safer IMO.

Would fully recommend getting a screen for regular use. Especially as I paid c£126 for it, and the installation was easy and non-destructive.
The front bumper camera was also included in that £126 - which I will need to fit it at some point in the future

Figured I will need to charge at least one, but the motorway supercharger network looks good on the Tesla app, so it shouldn't add too much time to the journey

How’s it more relaxing when you have to worry about charging before you have even used an electron?

It won’t be the same either as you can’t fill up in seconds

We did our first one earlier this month was expecting chaos but tbh it was no hassle. 20 min stop for a charge and on way again. Far better than I was expecting tbh and being able to use the Tesla chargers it was cheaper too.
