I'm gonna jump on this as its kinda relevant.
I scratched my windscreen last year in a dust storm. Very light scratches just above my eye level. Anyone know how to polish them out
I wouldn't bother tbh. Keep an eye on it during the colder months as water will get in it and if it freezes, could expand it. Quite a small chance, but still worth considering given the price of a new windscreen.
That’s not strictly true, you can have damage of 40mm+ on the screen and it’ll pass no problem.
The 10mm in zone ‘A’ as an automatic fail also isn’t true.
You can also just not have a windscreen, unless the wording has been changed in the manual
Years ago I had to MOT a car, for which I had a replacement screen but no screen rubber was available at the time, everywhere was out of stock. I removed the cracked screen. It passed the MOT with comments.
Of course I had no intention of driving it about with no screen, but I had lost my parking place and needed to tax it to park it on the road for a couple of weeks.
@JonRGV250 not sure if that "loophole" has been closed, though I guess stuff like old Austin 7 specials etc might not have screens, though it's a bit different as there is clearly no screen rather than it just being missing.
Off the top of my head without checking the manual I think it’s only mentioned to have a windscreen for class 5, although I never had anyone presenting a car without one.
