If Guehi doesn't leave us now he will go to Real Madrid or similar with a precontract signed in Jan.

If any club wants him it is really now or never IMO
I don't think a club like RM will want him. Guehi is fantastic but he definitely has weaknesses, RM won't want that in their backline when they're aiming to poach the likes of Saliba or Konate instead.

I remain underwhelmed by the Isak signing. He's a very good player, don't get me wrong - probably the second best striker in the league behind Haaland.

But we have just brought in Wirtz for huge money to play in the hole. We have Ekitike who was also expensive (but less so) and he has started on absolute fire up front. And Gakpo has been quality from the left, one of our best players for the last year or so.

Yes, there's room to upgrade on Gakpo (although with his form, that room is shrinking) and to think long term about rotating Mo, but neither Isak nor Ekitike is the answer to those two issues. They'll be competing for one spot up front, or we'll be playing both up front with Wirtz off them, which totally changes our shape (realistically, you then need a midfield three behind that and that seems to squeeze out both Gakpo and Salah).

I get that you can never have strong enough forwards, and that Isak is fantastic. But I don't think he is the signing we need right now.

We've replaced Jota and Nunez with Isak and Ekitike, we definitely needed replacements up front. In a way we still need a replacement for Diaz so two new forwards at least were crucial

Jota who rarely started up front though, and often covered the left. Nunez (who was our only forward who was "just" a striker, rather than being much use on the wings) has been replaced by Ekitike. Our other forward signing should be more versatile than Isak is.

As I say, I'm not saying we shouldn't sign a forward, I'm saying it shouldn't be Isak.

Edit: And I'd argue that Wirtz also replaces a forward role, albeit in a different way.

Lamptey from Brighton to Fiorentina for 6m? Thats a bargain imo

Great going forward but can be a bit of a liability at the back, shame he was so hampered by injuries.

£6m does feel a little cheap, but I hope he does well and can stay fit.
