Essential Steam Deck games...

Imo it's hard to go wrong, but I'd say Dave the Diver is as close to an essential as you can get.

It's fantastic, surprisingly deep, with pretty great longevity.

Whats surprised me is Hogwarts Legacy, KCD1, Days Gone, Factorio, Ship Breaker, Half Life 2 etc.

They've all just worked, brilliantly, and given me an awesome gaming experience.

What's nice is games I could no longer play, like Prototype, just work out if the box too.

I keep checking out titles I've missed that I would expect to need a proper machine, and the Deck just serves up a great time over and over again.

Against the storm runs really well and it's a wonderful game. I've sunk best part of a thousand hours into it and don't actually play anything else on it. That and recently getting back into WoW (but on pc) are the only two things I do and they scratch my entire gaming itch.

Added to Wishlist; looks like a lovely little gem that I'd have missed, thank you!

I've recently got a Legion Go S with Steam OS installed. I'm new to handheld PCs. Might be showing my age, but I just installed and gave Crysis 2 a spin and blew my mind that it run solid 60+ FPS on all Ultra settings. The last time I built a full blown PC I had to spend about 1.5k to get it to run Crysis like this

I'm with you on this! Definitely a generational divide around here with expectations. I've played more than I have in over a year now I have the deck, have no regrets at all.

Break Point that was recommended in this thread is on sale for under a squid for anyone wanting to try that, just picked it up now with brotato

Of which you played about 5?
LOL No, I actually used to spend time going through them. Some I would load up and think "Meh" then move on to the next. But I would spend quite a bit of time on a lot of them (Usually on a flight etc)
Afterall, they didn't take up that much space anyway :)
