We havent renewed ours this tiem round as we're just not using it. The wording and tone of these nearly daily letters from them is absolutely incredible. How they get away with it in this day in age.

Have had 3 or so of these in recent months, completely agree.

There would be customer experience designers (or an equivalent of) who put this wording together with the intent of instilling fear into people by design.

Absolutely, and I can imagine it quite effective when read by older people or those not wise to it.

It really is outrageous. Their behaviour is a disgrace. They automatically assume we are all criminals and treat us as such.

The government really need to sort this out, but once again they just kick the can down the road.

It all harks back to a time that is long since gone, but as per usual the government are incredibly slow to respond to change. In fact, I am not sure they ever will. These days governments don't like to change anything unless they are forced to. Why upset the apple cart?

The agreement should never have been renewed in 2016. Not only does the government kick the can down the road but they guarantee to continue kicking it down the road for 11 years. It should have been ripped up twenty years ago, when it was obvious that the model no longer applied. It infuriates me how ridiculous the government are, at times. They are so terrified of losing a vote they refuse to do anything.

Yeah, those letter once upon a time were scary to most people, but thanks to the Internet people got wise to the fact they are just generic letter and they go out in cycles and then just start again.

Pathetic. At least they stopped the detector van bs.

I think the real truth behind this is that no one is really watching the BBC any more and those that that BBC class as "dodgers" probably just watch one show or something.

But there is also a likelihood that some people pay the licence out of habit or fear.

Anyway, the really interesting thing in that report it mentions that they have increased the number of NLN declarations people need to make.

It all makes me so angry. They behave like the Gestapo. I do hope the government changes their charter in 2027, but I somehow doubt they will.
 
Yup.

Had another letter through literally yesterday - saying they've started an investigation. I think that's about the fifth time I've had that letter. Looking forward to the next one......... :rolleyes:

Can't be long before it gets bundled into council tax or broadband.

If this happens under labour I'd say they've lost my vote. But they never had it
