YouTube Premium

Tbh I just assumed it was the same as Netflix, Prime where you select your profile when loading up the app, and you can select any profile. Good YT is not like that. But regardless as Rroff mentioned, I would much rather have my own solo account and not have to deal with anyone else or anyone else's accounts, for the sake of pennies.
Your moving goal posts. First it's "anyone can control my account" then it's "I want my own solo account"

What you smoking this morning? Read again, have account to myself, own solo account, that's exactly the same thing. Why do you even care

Just to add, you don't need to deal with anybody else's account if you're not the person who sets the group up :)
And then all you have to do is add them on to group like via email. Again, just bringing it up in case you get to the point where you keep getting kicked off the other ones and you see a group open up here.

I guess RVX was due their annual hammering from Youtube again, everything stopped playing after exactly one minute. A quick read of the Reddit post, 1 minute work later, and I'm again completely ad free, sponsors skipped, minimized playing (great for music), etc.

I've also just seen that the RVX patcher will also give Youtube music the same treatment, so will hafta give that a go too.

How anyone puts up with ads when this 30 second fix gets rid of them permanently is a mystery to me. Absolute game changer.

Lite you still get ads, only not as much.
I’m rocking lite after my ‘family’ sub ended and for normal viewing of normal video’s, I’ve never seen an ad.. I saw one ad the other day on a video, then realised the link I’d followed was on YouTube Music… You do get ‘ads’ in the UI but they are quite easily ignored.

I don’t use YouTube music, it’s a complete mess in terms of quality and presentation, I have my own collection and use Plex for that, but even if I didn;t, I’d rather pay for a better music service from someone else.

What’s a mess in YouTube music? I’ve tried the majority of them and they all pretty much the same to the point where it’s personal preference.

As an example I’m a big apple fan but I can’t get on with Apple Music as much as I want it.

1. The interface is ridiculously cluttered, you have to just search for everything manually, the concept of artists/albums/songs is lost in the noise.
2. There is no concept of quality or source control, most search results are extremely variable quality audio, often just snippets of videos or worse, videos that have been transcoded a trillion times, with Apple Music, Spotify etc, I pretty much know the source recording is an actual recording in a fixed format from an original source..
3. It returns a million different versions of each song in the results, which is a sign of it pulling from every YT music video ever uploaded for that song.

I find it the worst option from Apple, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer etc, they seem to host original songs from original sources in a known quality and have more focussed UIs.

Each to their own, I literally can't abide YT Music, the number of well recorded original source tracks seems tiny and anyone used to any form of 'organisation' just gets lost (that's using the web interface as well as Android App).

I'm happy to be shown I'm using it wrong, if there is a way to get a proper organised interface and access to only good quality source original recordings, please let me know!

I don't mind YouTube premium, the one thing I cannot forgive is not being able to search within a playlist, totally sucks!!

One of the reasons I refuse to pay the full price for YouTube Premium - there are too many parts of the site which belong firmly in the 90s internet - trying to search, edit and/or manage your old comments for example is a mess, search filters are extremely limited in general, etc. etc. the only thing which is decent really is the player itself.

@andy_mk3 do you gents buy anything else from apple via turkey? Or was that just a means to and ends for YouTube?

Purely just for YT. It's a bit of a ball ache, but I just top up around 3 months at a time just in case it gets canned.

Strangely enough, my YT channel subscriptions are still working fine via Argentina using my Monzo card lol.

As much as I detest YouTube - it is fairly clear what the intentions of the family plan are and people are a bit naive if they think using it otherwise won't eventually result in YT clamping down on it.
