Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

I get this too, Typically only with Tesco card readers only. It was the same with my P5 too. After some digging online, It appears to be a common problem with Tesco contactless readers.

What I have noticed is that if I have notifications unread, It appears to be worse. If I clear then all prior to using it, It works better.

Interesting I'll try that, thinking about it, it does seem to happen in B&Ms pretty much every time

I've actually just been to Tesco and forgot my wallet. Cleared the notification bar and it went through first try.
I think they use verifone readers. I've never had an issue anywhere else apart from Tesco.
It's also not limited to Pixels but I've just read a big thread of folk complaining of the same with Samsung's so perhaps a unit and Gpay issue.

Mines still on Optimising your device :(
I think it's that material you stuff.
Yeah mine's doing that too. Been a while so far.

It's restarted. Can see a UI update/change. More space on homes screen so just been moving some apps over from 2nd screen to first and filling up the space on the 2nd.

Bloody hell, that's different and going to take some getting used too. The battery and all the icons have changed :D
Pretty much everything has changed visually.
Quite nice, first impressions.

**Mods, I replied this same reply in the wrong bit sorry. I was supposed to reply here but somehow replied in the Pixel 10 forum sorry.

Yeah first tried it on the 10XL. Takes a little getting used to but a refreshing change.

10XL getting sent back today. Won't be missed a single bit tbh as I prefer the look and design of the 8 Pro and it overall the differences were so insignificant.

Good to know to reinforce my thoughts on keeping my P8P for as long as possible

Liking the update, need to watch one of the popular YouTubers to see exactly what's changed but first impressions are positive

Ah that surprises me, I thought you'd keep the 10. I was in two minds about returning the 10PXL and keeping my 8P, but I think I'm going to stick with the 10....

I would have like to however there's literally not a single compelling feature for me to keep it. Especially given it's cost.

I'll hold fire till a bigger spec bump. No rush tbh.

I generally wait 3 years between upgrades which allows for a few generational improvements to make it feel worthwhile. You still get a decent bit back for the previous phone at this age.
This may change as there are some with 7P satting it doesn't feel like a massive leap in improvements for them either.

It's Google dragging their heels. No bad thing as you say as the 8 Pro is fine for now.

I've got the regular 8 and I'm still loving the way it operates. Obviously I'm keeping tabs on what the next phones are doing and differing features but there was absolutely nothing that made me feel like I am missing out on.

Having spent some time with it. I have exactly the same thought... A refreshing change. I like the font change in the calculator and throughout the menus. The extra row of shortcuts is handy too.
One thing I need to do it look at it in normal mode as I'm currently using dark mode.

Yeah I must admit, I'm starting to think the same, its a lot of money for what doesn't feel like a big difference.

Don't get me wrong the 10 XL is a lovely bit of kit. But then so is the 8 Pro.

I'm liking this new setup! Very happy with the change! I've been reading reddit thread of people posting their screenshots and setup, How do you get the likes of WiFi/Bluetooth, Torch as icons on your home screen or is this a third party installer type thing? Also re-sizing the tiles as per the second pic?

Battery life was supposed to get better on the 10 series!
