EV general discussion

The BMW has a larger battery and is more efficient so further range : 180 km's more !
Also, the GLC is expected to cost more, with the options list being more extensive.
I don’t think battery size or the car size, and therefore aero really mean it’s a generation behind.

The motors are a generation ahead with 2 speed rears.

Plus the Merc offers air suspension and rear wheel steer.... it would be no suprise it costs more. SDK is being myoptic as usual to his garage.

Absence of 800V on release of bmw is another negative (merc need to put a 400v adapter in uk stuff though),
bmw had said single speed is a conscious design decision, so if they have the smarts that vw 550 drivetrain has maybe they can compensate in efficiency,
unless you need autobahn max speed
Manufacturers should be upfront on the cd & frontal area.

They are upfront on the BMW doing 800V though.

Pay attention, the BMW is 800V and you aint buying one anyway- the cd is also there. Its a Luxury segement, no one is a interesting in fuel misery as you. These newer silicon Carbide inverters are way ahead of your obsessing with that 550.

EDit : Bless you saw peak charging of 400kW and muddled it up with Volts

You need a new hobby dude, like actually driving a range of EVs.

Which figures are being compared to reach this conclusion?

As far as I can see, Mercedes claim a range of 443miles (713km) from 94kWh (4.7mi/kWh), whereas BMW are claiming 500miles (805km) from 108kWh (4.6mi/kWh).

I liked the closing statement of 'should be cheaper'

Ioniq 5 is at Hyundai today getting a security update and a few other things looked at. I have an i20 as a loan car which is a petrol manual. Its a nice car bit like the Corsa but no way could I go back to a manual now or even petrol tbh.

Collected car it’s had the security update done which gives two new keys which is nice. It’s also apparently going to have a battery change too as it is needed no idea why. Also a new drivers seat, both black window rails and a new charge port and door fitted. Just waiting for all the parts to be delivered to the dealer.
