Lenovo Legion Go

Anyone can help explain how does FPS work with steam remote play? The host is running with about 100fps but legion go client is locked at 60.

Is it correct that what Im seeing in the client is 60fps? Im guessing input is also delayed a little due to frame difference excluding the network hops.
I don't have the Legion Go but there's a frame rate limit in the steam settings for host, think I had something similar a while ago streaming to a laptop and had to set the limit?

Yup, i found the advanced client settings. I can set it to 120fps in legion go. I thought i had it already set but nope. Back to 120fps now. Probably does not make a big impact from what I can see/notice.

Just ordered the windows Legion Go S from the biggest online store, had some vouchers so only cost £282 :) Has windows but will swap the Steam OS and should be great for streaming from my PC as well

Yeah agreed.. Even at £350 i love mine.. its a chonkers boy but the screen looks great, with SteamOS and Lossless Scaling it plays my games very well. Its a bit of a faff to get it all sorted but when its all done it works brilliantly. Still need to sort the touchpad out.

Very doing a similar deal once you get the 20% using 12 months BNPL quite tempted despite just selling my legion go 8.8 crazy

I'm not sure what issue you have with the track pad but I used the following which has a link to some firmware and mine works but not very good https://retrohandhelds.gg/how-to-install-steamos-on-lenovo-legion-go-s/

The trackpad just doesn’t work in steamos like the pads do on the actual steam deck. I followed a similar guide and it upgraded to firmware 21 but when I went into steam is it still does t work. I can only surmise that it needs a reinstall or some update to recognise the trackpad now.

Ah, so just checked and never realised in steam big picture it doesn't work for me either, exit to the desktop and it works.

I wanted a Steam Deck but after a little research decided to look at Legion Go S but with Steam OS.

Since this is an impulse purchase I was instantly put off by the price tag of £500 or £549.

I have since managed to pick up a brand new Leigon Go S but in White for £279.20 :)

My intention after a couple of days, will be to Install Steam OS and treat it like a Steam Deck anyway.

I did this for a while on my OG Legion Go but ended up sticking Windows back on it.

Steam OS works well enough but honestly, other than quick resume and automatic driver updates, I thought there were more downsides than upsides to it and there was no noticeable performance difference.

On Steam OS Gamepass doesn't work, loads of online games don't work, some launchers are a pain in the bum to get going, Rockstar launcher tries to install your games in weird places and couldn't read the amount of free space on the drive properly.

Eventually dual booted for a while but then thought what's the point as I was spending half my time messing about in Linux rather than playing games.

I dual booted and have best of both worlds. To be honest tho i have only really been playing with SteamOS. The games definitely perform better on Steam than they do on windows from what i can tell. And using Lossless scaling made it even better. I have however not tried Steam in the OS with Lossless Scaling. If MS released a more hand held friendly version of windows (Apparently in the pipeline) then i can see me going back to that. However i am not sure the performance will be great with only 16gb of memory and a decent chunk of that being used for GPU memory.

I would certainly consider purchasing one of these units with a better APU and more memory in the future. I would actually love the purple one but silly money at the mo, the cheapo one will do me for the limited games i use.

My go s arrived yesterday, I had a spare 4tb drive so have put that straight in after cloning the original, used mini tool to extend the c partition to gain the unallocated space, all running well and setting up, first impressions over the original Legion go is its much nicer to hold, I feel the lower res screen is better suited and the speakers are far superior, i'm obviously not expecting the performance to be as good as the Z1E but should be fine for what I will actually use it for, decided to stick with windows rather than Steam OS as I use gamepass a bit and cba with the hassle that goes with it and other launchers. Pretty happy for just over £300 new, should have got it a week earlier when I would have got 20% back rather than the 10% i got this time :)

Lenovo updated the page on the Go 2 https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/coming-soon/coming_soon_laptops/legion-go-gen-2/len106g0004 though doesn't mention the 32GB version there, looks like it is going to be a bit pricey though - the 32GB / 1TB model likely going to be around £1200, possibly higher as there is talk the base model will be £1090 straight swap $ for £, which in my opinion is too high. While nice that the screen is getting an OLED, HDR and VRR makeover I still think the original 2560x1600 resolution is much more useful than the updated 1920x1200.

I'm on the fence now - if they'd kept the base model nearer the original price point and the 32GB model to around £200 more I'd have probably jumped on it, if it is like £1300 at best I'll probably wait on a decent sale if I buy at all, might start looking at the GPD devices instead.

I know exactly where you are coming from. I personally can’t justify paying that much money to get a slightly better system.

I’m going to hold out until the next big jump in performance and keep using my legion go as a streaming device which Is when i find it to be at its best.

The relatively iterative performance update is another thing which gives me pause, but I'd really find a 32GB device like this useful and too many caveats/potential to go wrong to bother with the 32GB RAM upgrade on the original.
