Are you guys able to turn this off or have to change settings to allow it? I think they're mandatory here in that they'll come through regardless of how your phone is set up. It's quite useful to know when an earthquake or tsunami is about to hit so I might check my understanding is correct.
 
I suspect the Ukrainians are unfortunately on the leading edge of phone alerts, but with the Pavlovian response time to some posts was an additional system really needed.
(especially if govt posts just masqueraded as an Elon Musk post say)

Should automatically work.

Never got one when I was in NZ, our best alert system was our cat who sensed them just before they hit. Acted weird and hid under the sturdiest frame she could find :)

I was on stage with a band at an Ozzy Osbourne Fest singing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath when it went off.
I held it up but nobody would have heard a thing in there :)

What makes me laugh are all the idiots who think it's a conspiracy theory to 'Control Us', one day this could save your life or a lot of inconvenience like it does in other countries.

i'm glad I didn't have my hearing aids in at the time, by all accounts it was VERY loud with them.

A guy I work with had just finished The Great North Run, he said "i was in a field with about 10,000 people it sounded like the purge was starting" :D
 
I didn't think it was that loud on my phone, but certainly for a device that is always on silent, was enough to get my attention.

Nice that we have a list of those who will and won't survive the purge. :)

I find this type of reply quite astonishing.
Yes the chances of anything happening is very slim however earlier this year a bad flooding somewhere in England had 100s of locals saying they weren't warned, I bet they are turned on now.
