I’ve been in the mood for a solid racing game on PS5 something I can jump into for a race or two and then hop off. It’s been a while since I’ve played a good racer, so I’m curious what people here are enjoying right now.

I tried the Gran Turismo demo (first time since the PS3 days), and it felt pretty good, so GT7 is on my radar. Are there any other options worth checking out?

Disney Speedstorm, free to play.

My First Gran Turismo, free to play.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2.

Wipeout Omega Collection.

GT7 is worth it imo, it’s the definitive PlayStation racing game. I’m not sure it’s so pick up and play though, there’s a fair mount of content and if you want, some depth too. If you nibble away at the campaign it can maybe be a race or two per session which will keep you busy for a while.

GT7 is more on the simulation side though, so for pure arcade for a quick fix I’d look to even some smaller titles. I have recently been playing Hotshot Racing, which is easy to pickup for short races and fun and ticks some retro boxes for me.

Wipeout I also like a lot but I actually would say it’s pretty challenging. At least it is for me, seems to be more difficult the older I get…

Dirt 5 is a bit of a laugh. I didn't pay for it though.
GT7 is awesome.
Forza Horizon 5 is soooo annoying lol
Dirt Rally 2 is pretty good

GT7 for proper sim racing.
Forza Horizon 5 for "simcade" racing ( my pick for "chill" gaming sessions )
Crew Motorfest - currently on sale, similar to FH5 but not quite as good, imo
Wreckfest - great fun, demolition derby style with online races.

I have been playing the new F1 game for a bit now and honestly, it’s really solid. Career mode is pretty engaging too, especially if you enjoy the whole team management side of things.
If you are into online racing, the lobbies have been much more stable so far, and there’s a good mix of casual and competitive options.

Overall, I’d say its definitely worth checking out, especially if you are a fan of the series or just want a proper racing sim.
