**** The Official Apple September Event thread - Tuesday 9th September 2025 @ 18:00 BST ****

Stop putting it in the same pocket as your keys then :p

I never have anything else in the pocket with my phone! Like I said, I take good care of my stuff. Either I’ve been really unlucky or I have a much lower threshold of what I consider acceptable in terms of ‘a scratch’. Either way, I won’t be convinced that a screen protector isn’t necessary.

In other news, I’ve preordered a 46mm S11 cellular in space grey aluminium and a blue sports loop.

Expected delivery is the 19th. It should be a big upgrade to my S4.

Had my eye on 16 pro for a while but thought best to wait, think the standard 17 is good enough though so probably going for that now which has saved a few quid

Think I might just go for regular 17 this time (from 15 pro max), looks like the only thing I’m really missing is telephoto which comes in handy sometimes.

Edit: or keep what I have for another year

For all those disappointed, what groundbreaking revelations were you expecting exactly? Because back when I actually used to have iPhones and stuff it seemed that every year it was introducing a feature Android already had but whipping it up as something unique, and minor improvements to a camera.

- Non reflective screen
- I prefer side finger print or under screen
- Stupid pill at top behind screen

To name a couple

17 seems like a good deal this time right? 256 storage, 12GB ram, 120hz screen - does this have always on too? both cameras on the back are 48mp...Better battery life £300 cheaper. Or am i missing something...my 6s just celebrated it's 10th anniversary so maybe I sould just splash out

Bits and bobs of extra data coming in from https://www.macrumors.com/

With USB 2 support, the ‌iPhone‌ Air and the ‌iPhone 17‌ support transfer speeds of up to 480Mb/s. The ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ and Pro Max support transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s.

Here is how much RAM is in each new iPhone model:
  • iPhone 17: 8GB
  • iPhone Air: 12GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 12GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12GB
Here are the battery capacities for each model, according to Apple:
  • iPhone 17: 3,692 mAh (+3.7% over iPhone 16)
  • iPhone Air: 3,149 mAh
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 4,252 mAh (+18.7% over iPhone 16 Pro)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5,088 mAh (+8.6% over iPhone 16 Pro Max)

Hmmm was defo going to get the 17 pro max from my 13 pro, but now im not sure i can be bothered, the 17 standard looks to be an upgrade in all areas id be bothered about and £24 a month after trade in is much nicer than £45 a month.

I have to admit I really do like the orange 17pro (Hook 'em \m/) . On a 16pro though so absolutely no need to change this year.

After a trade in my finance deal would rise from £25pcm to £38pcm.

Will a US 17 PM model work ok in the UK? Probably get one in October when I’m over there, nice little saving.

No. It won’t work with a UK carrier.

eSIM is different.

*edit*

Just looked it up. It maybe different now, it’s hard to say for certain though.

Network Compatibility: US iPhones support both GSM and CDMA networks, while UK iPhones are designed to work with UK LTE networks. This means that if you have a US iPhone, it may not work on UK networks, and vice versa.

There still listed as two different models though. US one and ROW
