Super budget £600 build?

Sorry for another post, really do appreciate all the help you guys have provided

I've just updated the Bios and I'm wondering which Ram profile I select

I did ask this in the AMD driver thread but I thought I'd ask here instead, just in case you guys might know what's going on

If a game is in fullscreen windowed mode and I alt+tab to a chrome tab or Discord, sometimes parts of the screen will freeze until I tab into the game and then back out of the game again. I checked the AMD discord and there's actually a few other people with this same issue, so that makes me think it might be driver related, but 1 person said it's been happening to him for the past couple of months. Are you guys familiar with this issue at all? Game performance seems fine so far apart from that issue

Having a bit of a nightmare with this system unfortunately

When I set my DRAM profile to use the EXPO profile and then leave the BIOS, my PC stays on a black screen with no display on the monitor and then the monitor goes into standby mode

If I disable EXPO this behaviour stops and I can go into the BIOS and leave the BIOS without issue

Any idea what the cause of this could be? Running the latest BIOS

Built my first Ryzen system a couple years ago and knew it had to do the memory training on first startup, I also happened to update my bios after installation so thought I might of ruined my new pc. Nope it was a good 5+ minute install (all black screen).

Unfortunately I've left it on for well over 10 minutes and with the XPO profile enabled it just won't boot unless I power off the system manually. After that it does boot fine but every time I go into the BIOS and then leave the same thing happens until I turn off XPO

manually set the speeds and timings and see if that does the same

It seems to be okay now. It did get stuck on the black screen when I set XPO, but I was able to turn off the PC and get back into the BIOS and leave with it booting up straight away. Wouldnt surprise me if this was some sort of BIOS bug I suppose

Is the bios up to date?
If so, then I would suspect that the CPU has a weak memory controller that can't do 6000 mhz.
It's rare, but can happen unfortunately and sounds like you may have lost the silicon lottery

More issues now unfortunately. Thought I'd run AIDA64 as a final stress test and the system hard locks after about 2 minutes, temps are fine, 70c at full load. Has to be an issue with the CPU, RAM or Motherboard somewhere

Turned EXPO off, ran AIDA64 again and stable after 25 minutes. Again, it's still going to be a case of narrowing down where the problem is. Going to run AIDA64 again with EXPO on and see if it crashes as fast

So which BIOS revision are you on and which two RAM slots are you using? You could run HCI memtest to see if it is a RAM issue.

EDIT: What speed is the CPU boosting to under single and all core loads?

If the only variable is expo that changes then most likely its a CPU memory controller issue. You can try increasing the voltages but I guess the best way is just to return and get a new one. In theory, expo is an over clock so there isn't any guarantee that the CPU will run it

It gets a bit more complicated, so the locks I thought I had when AIDA64 was running were more 'hangs' for about 10 seconds, but the system caught back up and the stress test continued. Currently been running AIDA64 for almost 40 minutes with EXPO on and no actual crashes... Really not sure what to do in this instance

The biggest issue I want to deal with all the freezing I get in Chrome/Discord when a game is running in the background, you have to almost grab the window and move it to get it back to normal... Not sure if this could be related to a RAM issue, but if Windows built in RAM test passed without issue, which it did, and AIDA64 is running for 40+ mins with EXPO on, do I really have an issue somewhere...
