The AMD Driver Thread

I'm having trouble with vlc media player. I can go to full screen and when I exit full screen the program spazzes out showing a blank screen apart from the title bar which I have to click to get rid of it. This is on video output options set to opengl, automatic was a no go.

Also with SDNext unless the powershell window is in focus the screen blanks for a 1/2 second when its rendering 3d image. It wasn't like this is 25.8.1!

I sent plenty of bug reports about vlc media player to amd on the last driver.

I've only just recently been able to use my 9070xt after fitting a waterblock, I'm surprised there are still general bugs like this still in the drivers. I remember I had trouble with my rx vega 56 typing into the browser and its was fixed in a couple of drivers.

Can't find my original post in this thread but did some further VSR testing with new driver today previously could not get it to work ie set a resolution higher than 1080p on my 1080pTV

I tried one suggestion on here to HDMI to HDMI rather than HDMI to DP which I was using before

I tried disabling HDCP

I tried a custom resolution

Nothing works it's so odd

Have you tried direct to the TV yet?

Iirc didn't you have a AV receiver in-between the PC and TV

9060xt 16gb, using the latest drivers. Is anyone else having issues when games are alt+tab'd/minimized? If I open up a browser when a game is alt+tab'd or minimized and start to open some tabs, I get split seconds of lag here and there. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to close a browser tab for example and at times certain parts of the screen freeze for a second or so. Games are running perfectly fine from what I can tell, not sure what's causing this issue

If the game is played in fullscreen mode and the game display settings are different than the desktop display settings, then it needs to change the settings whenever you alt-tab in or out, which takes a few seconds.

Fullscreen windowed mode, not actual full screen. Seeing a lot of other posts online about this issue, no one seems to know a fix. Nvidia cards are affected too

It's working on 7000series in Linux so still holding out some hope we might get it in Windows at some point...

FSR4 just keeps GETTING BETTER on AMD RX 7000 GPUs!! (RDNA3)

MLID says it's coming to RDNA 3, but not 2. Claims to have been told by someone at AMD and it's taking as long as it is because they are having to rewrite it for RDNA 3.

Rewriting makes sense, whether AMD would go to that much effort for previous gen is yet to be seen.

Be nice if it did fsr 3 looks bloody horrible in some games I play just can't see amd doing it personally on last gen tech

I was going get a 9070xt in a new build but holding off getting a new rig till next year sometime

Anyone here play Overwatch, did the shader compilation bug get fixed yet? On RDNA for some reason Overwatch compiles shaders every time you launch it so it stutters until it's done. It doesn't happen on Polaris and it doesn't happen on Nvidia, just RDNA. Here is one topic for example detailing it https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/1l315d0/fellow_amd_gpu_users_are_you_encountering_a/

Has it been fixed yet? I was planning on getting a 9060xt or 9070 (depending on if full rebuild or just card upgrade), but I play a lot of Overwatch, I don't know if I can be bothered waiting in practice range everytime I launch the game for it to compile, sometimes I just want to jump on for a quick game. I looked through the patch notes of the last couple of drivers and saw nothing, but I don't even know if AMD have acknowledged it as an issue.

Thanks.

I know FSR 3 in some games is just... Cyberpunk for example waited months for them to add it and when they did it looks worse than FSR 2.1

I put my graphics settings to 10-bit (I have a compatible monitor), and the above problems have gone.

Only problem I have had is using full screen mode in Chrome on youtube twitch ect it would freeze the whole browser but audio continued to play, had to change the renderer in Chrome flags from opengl to dx10, completely fixed the problem.

Wow I just replicated this, Chrome went to s*** and I only had audio.. (9070).
