windows 10 or 11
new pc build, should i install 10 or 11, i know 11 has had some problems with the ssd's disappearing but not sure if this affects windows 10, currently using windows 10 on my current pc but i know that on my new build i can only use wifi with windows 11 as there are not windows 10 drivers.

Go for 11. It seemed now safe to update to Windows 11 with latest update. SSDs disappeared was triggered by overheated temperature over 70C caused SSDs to crashed, failed or disconnected during heavy workloads on either Windows 10, Windows 11 or Linux. Make sure your SSDs have thicker 1.5mm thermal pad on both sides, I suggest ARCTIC TP-3 thermal pads which has the best performance outperformed all competitors.

i am concerned about getting windows 11 now as i have read they it collects lots of telemetry for microsoft and you can turn some off but not all, not sure what to do about it now.

Don't use WiFi then - run a cable :)

10 collects almost the same telemetry and mostly the same methods for turning it off still work.
If you don't want telemetry etc than your only option is Linux, but largely your online habits Facebook, Google, etc and the data these companies store are of more of a concern than windows telemetry.

Can either run O&O Shut up or the Chris Titus tech tool to disable services etc.

Windows 10 should not really be an option anymore with it going EOl on the 15/10/25.

If you're concerned about data gathering from MS your only real other choice is finding a Linux distro you get on with, but you'd also need to do a bunch of work elsewhere to avoid third party collection from the websites/apps you use.

That said, the fact you need to ask the above question implies you're probably best off with W11.

There's no choice, windows 10 support is ending, you must use windows 11.

There is a choice. Windows 10 extended support.

Or Linux.

Will probably end up on 11 at some point myself despite all the nonsense.

I get there are people complaining about W11 issues, but there also seems to be a complete lack of genuine information regarding the issues and who they affect.

It certainly put me off diving straight into W11 on my new build though.

would anybody recommend linux and if so which one?
It can depend on what games you play and what software you use.

Linux can be limited, I have been trying Bazzite which for Steam are ok but depending on the game and even the anti cheat they use it may not work with it.

I tried the battlefield 6 beta and this would not run so had to go to Windows. (I dual boot both)
