The little things

I hate heated seats.

Seats that blow cold air through them though, amazing.

This isn't something I have, but rather something I wish was a thing in my car - some sort of label or reference to figure out the current seat height setting.

I might be odd for wanting something like that, but when you share a car and the seat gets adjusted to suit the other person's height/distance to the front, I always second-guess myself to what I actually had the seat set to. It then feels like I'm either too far or too close, even when testing all of the cues of 'can I reach the clutch or am I too close' etc. I just end up sticking with whatever anyway :p

Unless something similar already exists on other cars. Is it called power seats with memory? I remember reading something along those lines.

When my current car gives up the ghost, this is something I'm definitely going to have look for in my next car!
Some cars will even take a cue from which key you use so when you unlock the car the seat will move to your position if someone else has used the other key and moved everything to their position. Often bundled with comfort access os similar though.

Not practical in any sense but amusing nonetheless, the smart ambient lighting in the Formentor (and I guess other Cupras and some other VW group cars) when set to switch with drive profile, in Cupra mode the brightness changes with throttle position - i.e. the more you push the pedal, the brighter the ambient lights get

Yeah heated screen is a godsend on a cold winters morn, don't understand why more manufacturers don't incorporate it as the Ford copyright ended a few years ago I believe.

Miss my heated windscreen

Use the climate control seats way more than I expected. I'm often too hot so have them on a fair bit. I thought they would be a gimmick but no they're good.

I used to dismiss HUD as a gimmick until we got it on the missus car, so wish my car had it as it means you never have to divert your eyes to the speedo

Would it not just be easier not to go driving in your swimming trunks?

I'm currently driving my mother in laws 13 plate A1 whilst I wait for my new car and I have been surprised about how much I miss all these little things:

Arm rest
Dimming rear view mirror
Cruise Control
Automatic gearbox (how did I drive a manual for so long :D)
DAB radio
Car play
E Brake
Heated seat

It's a completely different experience I seem so far removed from even though most of my driving life I've had very few of the above. Its not bad when your tootling around town and can be quite fun but on longer journeys not so much.

Having the nav integrated into the digital dash. Can imagine it’s pretty common now but remembering back to the days when you had to stick a tomtom onto your windscreen..

Also good having heated windscreens.

Nearly all of those present on my superb 280 including the parking ticket clip, memory seats etc. loads of smart little options. Heated screen too, however there were mobile signal issues for some with it.

Vented seats on the missus's car, in the summer a on full blast can make you feel you have wee'd yourself

It is quite nice having the most pertinent navigation details show up on the dash like lanes to use, etc. which my newer vehicles do, but in places I'm completely unfamiliar with I still find having my phone mounted low right of my windscreen running Google Maps works even better. I have to admit I didn't think to do it until seeing someone else doing it and it was a game changer for me - not that the built in navigation was lacking.

6 cylinders are noice

For me to be honest it probably has to be this - thrashing a manual small engine, even the 1.6 auto with a reasonable amount of torque on my Qashqai, is actually quite wearing when you've been driving vehicles with a decent V6 automatic especially in today's traffic - just so much more refined and effortless. One of those things you don't really appreciate just how poor the experience is until you've experienced better. 8 cylinders is nice but in this context not really necessary and usually comes with a fair penalty to fuel economy and emissions, while a good V6 can still be reasonable for those.

Not having to use a phone for navigation either is great too, as it's typically a sucker for battery.

Ventilated seats suck, rather than blow.
They're nice to have, but not something I'd go out of my way to specify, or find a car with.

Massaging seats, on the other hand, I would actively look for in a luxobarge/motorway cruiser.
