*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

Had always planned to downsize this year from the 13PM, specs wise I've just ended up ordering the regular 17 in 256gb sage - be a nice change from the 13PM in sierra blue and (alongside the airpods pros on order) it'll be the end of lightning devices for me
If I was happy enough to downsize I would definitely have gone for the 17 from my 15PM however I like a big screen. Annoyingly, I always said as soon as a "Plus" model came out with ProMotion I'd be all over it. Then of course the year they finally make ProMotion standard across all the devices they bin the Plus!
I'll just wait until a worthwhile Pro Max upgrade comes along.

A fan of the big screens but not a fan of the big width. 15PM was a decent amount narrower than the other Max models which I preferred

Even my 16PM gets pretty toasty when the CPU/GPU is under decent load. Will be interesting to see how much cooler the 17PM runs without thermal throttling.

Cooler being relative as reviews have shown

The SoC inside might be cooler but that heat gotta go somewhere and that's the case - the exterior of the 17 pro is several degrees warmer than the 16 pro under load, so while the inside of the phone might be cooler and you get less throttling, the phone feels hotter in your hands

AC+ is less than a tenner a month. A decent screen protector is what, £20 or £30 which usually have to be replaced throughout ownership, cases are £30+ for anything decent and again need to be replaced. Then there's additional benefits with AC+ to consider. I daresay those who are wanting to protect their phones would have them added to home or other insurance, so just use AC+ instead? That's my way of thinking anyway.

I think cases and screen protectors ruin the look and feel of phones, and IIRC most of them are pretty bad for the environment. Cases (and screen protectors if not applied right) can trap debris/dust and actually cause more damage.

I get that there's use cases, such as those working in factories or other harsh environments but in all my years of running without a case/screen protector and being careful I wouldn't have it any other way.

Naked FTW. This is the way.

I may leave off a screen protector this time, I’m pretty careful, although I still like a case, as I do a lot of manual work. Apple care +, can you pay that one off charge, and then renew when it’s due to expire possibly, don’t like to do monthly really.

Apple has been forced to remove this picture in South Korea

The locals there believe this picture makes fun of Korean's small penises

Decided I will get an iPhone 17pro, going to pass my 15pro down the family, I have a gift card I can use so I can get a 17pro fairly cheap.

Not sure on what colour though, don't like the orange, between silver and blue, all the colours this year are not great really.

Idiots. It's obviously not is it. It's the same photo being used across their marketing. If the Koreans infer a different meaning from that image, that's on them.

My green TechWoven case arrived today, it’s definitely like the old Google Pixel cases in terms of grip and look. Hopefully it will fair better than those nasty FineWoven cases. The shade of green is also spot on, it almost matches the theme on the forums.

I was looking at the green colour for the silver 17pro, is it on the brighter or darker side of green would you say?

Pretty decent improvement in IPC for the e-cores:

GPU is more impressive, and in any case at this stage what a faster cpu even get you? Does a webpage load 0.001s faster on a19 pro? GPU however is significant, some games that thermal throttle on a18 pro are running up to 60% faster now

Most of that is thermal related, just giving the phone better cooling makes it run games 50% faster basically, not that it's a surprise to anyone - I posted here multiple times years ago saying if Apple just improved the cooling there is about 50% free GPU performance to gain

I agree about the GPU. Although 22% higher performance at the same power draw as the old e core is really impressive. This bodes well for the M5.
