Just getting old or dementia?

Stood in the shower this morning half awake as usual and thinking about something. Thinking once I'm done getting washed I'll Google what I've been thinking about but as soon as my fingers were over the keyboard my mind went blank and I couldn't even recall the slightest thing regarding what I was pondering.

Am I losing it?

I hope it's just age as it happens to me a lot. One thing I did read about this sort of thing is, if you wake up after a dream and want to remember it you need to think about what happened in the dream as if you don't the long term memories don't form. I am assuming that's what's happening in this scenario.

Lol. I suppose. I'm a real person though. If it's not true that we live in a simulation.

You’re not losing it anymore than the rest of us.

I’m 59 and 3/4 and have been forgetting why I walked into rooms for decades.

Been distracted by shiny things since I was a nipper.

I find it can happen a bit if I'm not sleeping properly.

Being a bit leery of going to much into medical stuff but I think many of use can suffer from or even lead up to something adjacent to if not vascular dementia due to unhealthy lifestyles and can do more to avoid or delay it in older age.

EDIT: Again a bit leery but in terms of dementia I'd be more concerned if you start to have lapses of memory of what should be familiar places i.e. no idea where the exit is of a building you visit frequently, struggling with what should be familiar tasks or unusual behaviour changes - though it isn't unusual for people with dementia to not be aware of the fact those things are happening. And they can be caused by other things including simply disrupted sleep.

Good news:

This is simply not true.

It depends a lot hence I'm a bit leery to post about it, some people are far more self aware than others, some never really think or question why they are doing something and that carries over to things like dementia as can be seen with things like the nun study.

Happens to me numerous times per day, you’ll be alright

Edit: on reflection, maybe I’m confusing this scenario with simply forgetting things.. been described as having a head like a sieve for years, I put it down to my brain going full throttle most days
