got a parking ticket from parking eye at our local Asda. Did a large weekly shop and the misses got distracted in the clothes section bought a coat and a few other bits and took her sweet time. Have receipts from the day

Limit was 2 hours, we stayed for 2:15mins

Have to pay or worth appealing?

I know a good few years ago people used to say to just ignore but that isn’t the case anymore.

Aye I can't see them having any problems seeing as you just spent a crazy amount of time in the shop. It wasn't like you went there and then around several other shops.

I would imagine they'd be able to sort it out in-store (?)

if that doesn't work then find out who runs the estate and email them (it'll be on a sign somewhere near the entrance to the car park).

Also check to see if there is a grace period after the 2 hours, i would suspect that 15 minutes over should be ok ?

if your purchasing items fror store, then why not ?

as others as said, its not as if you had dumped your car there and gone elsewhere for 4 hours.

The issue with this 2 hour thing, its stupid, as most car parking ANPR dont let you back after you have visited for your first stint, what if you wanted to spend more time and spend more money at this retailer? they should honour it. Otherwise the car parking people could be liable for the company the retailer losing potential money if they are forcing you to leave after a certain time.

Im pretty sure our local tescos you can stick your car in their carpark for 4 hours.

Had this a while ago at Tesco, appealed to Horizon Parking including proof that we had made three purchases during the visit (Clothes, Cafe, Groceries) and fully expected to be told tough round ones as we had somehow managed to spend about 4 hours in one shop :o

Got overturned as a gesture of good will. Tesco couldn't have cared less and just gave the "Parking durations are displayed in and outside the shop" ctrl+c, ctrl+v response.

i didnt dispute it however i contacted Aldi on their page and included an image of my receipt and they kindly offered to cancel the parking fine for me.

however ultimately if they hadnt of done that i would not have contested with the company that ticketed me as ultimately they had me bang to rights.

What page, twitter? Or a customer service email?

If you want to resolve it quickly and easily, pop into customer services in the store with your receipt, most will cancel it for you immediately.

If they don’t do it, 100% use social media to ping their CS publicly and at the same time, appeal via the parking-eye portal, don’t read them the riot act, apologise for not keeping track of time, and say you went back to the car as soon as you realised it was fractionally over 2 hours and include a receipt etc..

Two hours for just a weekly shop???
15 mins over is 15 mins, it's not rocket science.

Some people have limited mobility?

There are some people I'll see in Sainsburys who I reckon must easily take at least 1h30 just to get round the shop, let alone if they get distracted by something shiny.

My grandmother can take about 2 hours to do a big shop, she’s slow and doesn’t get many places these days so likes to take her time. Hardly the crime of the century.

OP, just contact the supermarket, I’m sure it’ll get sorted.

It would be a good idea if the disabled and elderly etc could be given some kind of QR code/badge for the front and rear windows, so that an ANPR camera would know not to fine them based on the above examples.

I guess we're not talking about elderly are we. As stated it's not particularly difficult to monitor a time period, or set an alarm on your phone.
Or just have it delivered..

I've had loads of these tbh. Some of the times from not being aware of the payment process, and sometimes just chancing my luck. Probably had about 6 in the last decade, and not paid one of them. In every instance a quick email to whichever supermarket managed the lot would have it written off.

You'll be amazed how far you can get with stuff like this by simply sending a polite email to the relevant people.
