Weird new issue

Apparently they do! Do you remember the famous Christmas poster from the recently defunct shop?

If they're handling the entire RMA service for the brand, there could be contractual incentives there that we can't even comprehend. If it was literally on behalf of the manufacturer it wouldn't be an issue, right? Since Corsair would provide the replacement, so no benefit to the shop in offering a lower model.

I've seen a lot of that from them, they come up with all kinds of stuff in reply. You claim this item was used, sir? Well, there's CCTV from it arriving in our warehouse until the moment it is packed and leaves our warehouse, so that is not possible.

It is sad really, because when I read these kind of threads I always think: "so if someone just wants to be nice and accepts the first offer, they get shafted?". And then, as you found yourself, it is exhausting/frustrating to have to fight for it, so even if you eventually win, they will lose the future custom anyway. Just seems like counter productive bean counting to me, but what do I know.

Ah, that's interesting, I think you're referring to the wrong shop? If you mean the one that recently shut shop and were bought out, then nope, it's the rival company from Bolton ;)

They claim to be Corsair UK... "Any return/RMA/warranty, comes to us, even if you deal directly with Corsair's website, it comes to us!"

Said company, has twice not packed the most basic of things like they would items of lesser value, and then arrived damaged, to which when disputed, I was told 'someone will call you in 2 days' **** off? I'm ringing up now? WHY can't I speak to a manager? Yet if I'm on the sales line I can?

So you become at the mercy of waiting around for them, with your phone on loud, on your person, awaiting their callback, IF it occurs, whilst trying to work? I am not accepting that, put me through to a manager? Surely someone is listening in? Like on the sales line?

I swear they make it up as they go.

Oh, aye, I know who you meant. But that (in)famous poster probably describes the way a lot of places work nowadays.

Yikes, that is not good. I suppose returning it to the UK is a benefit of sorts, but not if they're incentivised to cut costs.

That is actually never a problem I've had with them, they would always use bundles of bubble wrap and good solid boxes. Maybe I was right about the one agent thing though :D

Interesting!!! I thought you meant the one from Howden, that's been recently discussed regarding it's new ownership ;)

Yep, scumbaggery at it's finest!

Yeah, they offered me a pathetic £10 back off my original payment - to which I said, "so if I want to ever resell this to anyone, I have to explain a convoluted story, making myself look suspicious, yeah thanks!"

The worst thing is, it was a present, of which, they fumbled the delivery, so I had to give it to a family member, looking like a ********, stating that it was 'fine' despite the box being battered, and that should it go wrong, 'apparently' I can still RMA it. 'Thanks' for that!

Oh, by the way - the DPD tracking hasn't updated in over 12 hours, so I doubt it'll come tomorrow or Sunday, despite knowing for a fact that if I was buying it, it would. Surprise surprise - I did question why I hadn't received any updated direct from DPD tracking, like I normally would when buying something before 2PM, and it arriving Saturday/Sunday via the same DPD service, nope, I've got to waste 2 day's listening out sat by the door 'just incase' it arrives. But it'll come Monday, but they blamed some delivery charge cost, of which never was an issue when buying on a Friday or Saturday for next day before, despite DPD delivering 7 days a week and never charging me a 'Saturday' or 'Sunday' delivery inflation - take from that what you will!

Ugh. Yeah, they always seem to overlook that they might be presents. There's one store I ordered from and they taped (with clear tape) the RAM I ordered to the motherboard box. I was pretty annoyed. I saw that they wrote to other customers when they didn't even bother to wrap anything: "that's why it has a box, to protect the contents". I'd like to see them try that line with expensive jewellery or shoes :o

I guess it saves money on packaging to just slap a label on it. They even do it with graphics cards, which is just asking for trouble.

Yeah, probably using an especially cheap service for RMA/returns. I suspect some contracts actually make the courier handle returns gratis, but maybe that's me being a cynic.

WTAF!? That's crazy dude! Then you remove it and it rips off part of the box or outter design! **** take!

Pfft, no you pack the back securely to protect the box it comes in!

Yep, yep if I wanted to buy something, it'd get shipped out then and there!

They lol, also claim that they've never seen this item RMA'ed before, despite it being so common, that Corsair themselves, issued a public statement about the fault on their official website...
I wonder why they'd lie and say that? Oh wait, they 'are Corsair UK, when you buy it, it comes from us, when you return it, it goes to us' etc :rolleyes::o

Yup, that's exactly what it did

The stupid thing was, the box wasn't even sealed, so they could have just put the RAM inside the box and it would have been better protected and no need to use the tape

The suspicious person in me thinks they say these things, because many customers are not that confident about their hardware, so they're seeding a doubt in the mind (that maybe it was your fault), to make you accept a lesser resolution.

FFS man, so stupid! I've had stuff be better packed that was smaller, in bigger better packed boxes. It makes no sense!
Yeah when I reported mine, they said they'd "look at the packing CCTV" yeah sure lol.

Definitely mate! I was thinking the same. I was like well that's not true, the fact that Corsair personally acknowledged it on their own website, proves that's not true, along with a massive online community of various sources having the same problem and RMA'ing them! Pfft.

I got the new bad boy earlier :) 1200W ATX 3.1 goodness!

Glad you managed to figure that one out! Shame you had to waste all that time debugging other things.

Shocked about the PSU dying within 2 years though.

Thanks dude :)
Yeah a fair bit of faff :P
After about 20 minutes of him trying to get out of it, claiming it was such a good PSU, I did end up saying "no it's not, it's ****! It's failed in less than 2 years, what's good about that!"
He didn't find that amusing :P

@Tetras I can't stop laughing mate!
I just unboxed it, it comes in it's own material house with a flap  which lives inside a bigger styrofoam house :P
And all the cables come in some kind of bathroom travel wash bag with a velcro fold  Hilarious!
Nice bonus presentation there!

It has a nice heft to it too :D Pretty nice looking with the ghosted NZXT black logo in gloss over the main matt black powder coat :)
I think I made the right choice!

I wish I'd taken a picture of it's house now hahaha!

Nice :D

I'm thinking of NZXT selling a lot of coolers, since that takes a lot of work to make sure they arrive safely.

Anyhow, enjoy your new shiny bling!

I was grinning and laughing like a child :P
Yeah, I did always fancy a Kraken, but the Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro is quieter and seems to beat it, along with basically everything  Which still blows my mind, I will get one at some point, the Arctic, not the Kraken - there's a lot of moaners stating the fans are pretty loud; which would defeat my want for one :( They look beautiful though! Definitely beats the Arctic in terms of looks, not that I care too much, but it's a nice bonus when something is posh
and comes in hilarious packaging

Thanks mate, you kept me sane last night, I needed to vent that, after having the hassle of RMA'ing it and chasing my tail for months with that bi-polar Corsair

Best to check the RAM in different configs first. If you have 1 stick, try different RAM slots on the motherboard and re-run memtest, if you have >1 stick then test them 1 at a time, and in different slots. Between testing you should be able to figure out of a RAM socket on the motherboard or a stick a RAM is dead. In there's XMP profiles turned on in the mobo, go into bios and switch them off to run the RAM at default speeds.

Yeah, I tried with an without XMP, and various MHz settings. Then ran 22 hours IIRC of memtest86+ and found no errors. It turned out to be the PSU in the end :)

No worries :D I know it can be pretty stressful with expensive parts, especially when the retailer/manufacturer messes you about.

Has always been part of Noctua's allure, even a fan comes in fancy packaging, so I do get it. The last PSU I got, there's complaints about the modular cables coming damaged because they're just dumped in the box with a flimsy divider and the PSU crushes them in transit

The Kraken is a nice bit of kit, 6 year warranty too, for whatever that's worth nowadays.

Top man! :)
Yeah, I am very tempted not to buy from them again, it's a shame as one of the sales guys goes above and beyond, but the RMA guys definitely don't!

It was a very Apple like experience, in terms of unboxing :D

Jesus, that's nice of them!

Yeah I still like the Kraken, but I can only really justify an AIO if I gain quietness :P
