Morning all!

I’ve placed an order for the iPhone 17 PM and the shipping date via Apple is the 9th-16th of October, has anyone ever had the Apple orders earlier than the estimated delivery date?

Thanks

Amazon have them available from the 3rd to the 4th for some configurations.

What's the method of securing an in-store pick up. Are they restocked periodically each day? I have two Apple stores quite nearby so would prefer if possible to secure one sooner than the 7th-16th Oct delivery window.

It usually takes a week or so before they get any stock. Stock then filters in drive and drabs. Likewise with 3rd party retailers.

Just keep an eye on on the In store reservation pages. I can’t remember if it refreshes at midnight or very early in the morning.

I charged my 17 pro Friday night when it arrived, up to 100% while it transferred stuff, and I had to charge it again at 4pm today as it was touching 32%. I think that might partly be because it was only connected to WiFi and not a cellular network at the time though.

I had to ring mozillion in the end, earlier this afternoon, and they emailed me a new eSIM straight after a couple of security questions - I should’ve just rang instead of filling in the contact form.

The Pro`s scratch easily, definitely need a case...

Some here said it was fake news

Good to see it confirmed. Makes no difference to me as I always use a case for my iPhone. The rear of the 17 Pro is fugly anyway so at least a case hides it too

I use a case and screen protector anyway, but that certainly confirms my choice of going with the silver one, as any marks will be much harder to notice. Stupid move on Apple's part not to chamfer the edges on the bump so that the anodizing sticks better. Guess we know what the bump shape will be next year :D

The Pro really is heinous. I use my 15 naked most of the time but I'd be embarrassed to do so with that monster. Whatever happened to clean, minimalist design.

Given it some time and sticking with my guns in deciding not to upgrade my iPhone or AW Ultra 1 - just no point whatsoever. I think the selfie camera improvement is the only thing that tempted me but 2 years ago I realised if you rotate your phone and take selfies using the rear facing camera instead the quality is infinitely better anyway. The telephoto and ultra wide angle lenses on the 15 PM are to my mind unusable so again maybe on the 17PM they have improved them so they're in line with the 15 wide lens which can actually take amazing photos in Apple ProRAW - but I doubt it.

still not going to use a case.

So much better without. Would only use one if my work/hobbies require it.

Pocket on its own or on its MagSafe stand in truck. Got stand on table and kitchen so it’s not really an issue for me.

I tried putting on a spigen screen protector this morning, which comes with TWO plastic frames, and the protector embedded in them (wasteful and weird), and BOTH produced huge bubbles that wouldn't resolve. I don't have any problems applying most screen protectors, but these were absolutely terrible. I thought the Spigen name would mean decent quality, but they were really really bad.

Anyone else having any issues with the always on display not turning off at night?

Moved from a 13 Pro so the always on display is new to me. I should switch off when it's dark but, in bed at night, I've found this very unreliable and sometimes it just won't turn off. I've thus disabled it as I don't really need a permanent clock when locked as I have a watch.
Just wondered if this was a pre-existing issue or something specific to the 17 Pro or iOS 26?

In other news, I got the Apple silicone case with the phone on Friday just so I had something but didn't like it at all.
Now replaced with a Spigen Enzo Aramid T and am very impressed with it.

Do you use sleep mode? When mine switches on at 10pm and off when my alarm goes off, the always-on display doesn't come on.

I've never bothered with it because I never know exactly when I'll be going to sleep.
I don't expect to be going to bed at the exact same time, but mine goes in to sleep mode at 10pm and comes back out again when my alarm goes off that morning. You can set your sleep schedule in settings, and think of the 10pm sleep mode as 'wind down time' to an extent. It doesn't stop you using your phone, just puts on do not disturb, stops your display lighting up at night, so on. Doesn't mean your phone shuts off, just that it's less distracting at night. :)
