Does AppleCare + transfer with the device normally as I just noticed the Apple care + I purchased outright has transferred across to an iPhone I gave to a family member?
I though it was linked to the Apple ID?
Any confirm please.

I think it is linked to the device otherwise you could buy a broken second hand phone and get it repaired for free.

Yeah seems it is, which is great, as saves my having to try and transfer it via Apple support. I presume its the monthly apple care sub that would be linked to an Apple ID.

Technically you can. But I doubt anyone would sell a device that's broken and still has Applecare, otherwise, they'd have it fixed.
I think technically per t&cs to transfer AppleCare you have to contact apple support to transfer it to the new owner, but I’ve never heard this being enforced.

Ah ok, well it’s only 4 months worth, so not going to worry about that.
So, for me, applecare came in useful today. Iphone 16 pro wouldnt charge via usb c.
At first I thought it was a broken port (online searching seemed to confirm this was a potential issue).
So visit to apple store at lunchtime got it fixed.
Turns out it wasnt broken after all - it was the dreaded "lint build up" in the port!
Now i've had this issue before with the previous lightning port which was readily resolved with a sim ejection tool. Didnt know this was an issue with usb c.
Apple genius said its a common issue with the new usb c port but, its easier to break the port given its design compared to lightning.
Suggested a soft toothbrush or small esd brush if I want to clean the port myself in future.

Applecare plus is absolutely worth it both on Macbooks, iPads and iPhones and of course Mac pros and Studios etc, not so much Airpods or Watches. I see people save £100s literally on a daily basis where I would have had to quote a lot otherwise. For example on a newish Macbook, you're looking at £6/700+ for a display/lid angle sensor replacement but with APC+, it only costs £79 excess. A liquid damaged Macbook would be around £229 excess. They do have a limit on the amount of damage however and anything Apple deems as 'Catastrophic damage', measured against their set VMI's (visual mechanical inspection) wouldn't be covered regardless of APC+. An iPhone is £79 for a WUR (whole unit replacement) and with the newer models, WUR's are becoming a lot more common.
Other insurance can be good too, for example tech packs with banks are ok as their excess is quite low. But Applecare plus imo is a good deal.

I agree somewhat. I never got it on my watch (on the basis it's an Ultra designed to take a beating) and never had issues. Had it on my phone and iPad as the risk of accidental damage is higher.
On MacBook though, I'm not so sure. Maybe it depends on how careful you are as an individual. You definitely get value if you make a claim as you point out but I do think the risk of accidental damage is much lower than a phone. I've only got 10 days left to decide whether to add it to my MBP M4 Pro which I'm planning on selling the moment the OLED version comes out probably late next year. I wonder if it would increase the resale value for a private sale.
Also I guess most people have house insurance and accidental damage cover so although a complete pain to claim vs AC+ it would still protect you from a £6/700 bill.

3-1 chargers are the way to go. They’re even travel friendly now.

Careful with the 3 in 1 chargers my anker cube doesn't charge my apple watch at the full charge like it says on the spec sheet and reviews.
