Thanks, will do. Been a good start already, I'm sad I didn't play the first two back in the day.
I didn't realise I had to loot the guys as I went in that first big fight, that there wouldn't be a second chance to loot them, nor even to cheese the demon (I got him with 10 turns of ROFL which was fun but I then just ran past to do the thing).

Played BG1 for the first time ever about 2 years ago. Thought it was fantastic, you find it on GOG.

You can still play the first two.

BG2 remains a top 3 game of all time.

And just to add, don't feel you have to play BG1 or 2 to have an enjoyable experience in 3. The setting is similar, but they are largely disconnected.

Great surprise patch has borked my new playthrough. There's a decent chance some of the mods I was using wont get updated as the authors might not be playing BG3. Just great

you cant change it down to the older version in the options?

nope [edit to be accurate you can d/l patch some really old patch 7 versions but not a the previous patch 8]

Got it working after disabling a couple of mods

Problem with most modded games, really wish Steam wouldn't force updates unless you're playing online/ multiplayer game.

Or let people opt out of updates till they're ready or make publishers follow in CDReds footsteps and put the old version on steam (under betas) for people who wish to carry on a modded game.

Honestly there are so many simple ways to not ruin paying customers experiences.

factorio has some options also for older versions. currently on a 1.10. version instead of 2.0
but its a smaller game (200mb?) than Baulders Gate 3 (100gb??)
i was forever having to delete games to make additional space just so an update would download in beta.. im sure its better now but having to redownload 100 gb each time wasnt fun
