WTF is going on :(
recently i have been noticing this more and more especially on older programs
Last of the summer wine is a family type series and on quite a few times i have noticed that the episodes have had various `quips` funny moments removed
Also i watched the first 2 crocodile Dundee films and i thought that they were butchered beyond watching :)
This is on terrestrial TV and they are `old` .Is it the same on online shows?i.e. Netflix,ITVx etc?
Seems like the terminally offended are ruling the roost these days
Rant over

What time of day are these things being broadcast?
It's irrelevant what time they are shown - lots of shows are edited now compared to when they were originally broadcast.

It's been happening for a while, and yet people still think I'm old fashioned for having physical media! (although that's not always a saviour depending on when you buy it *cough* Star Wars *cough*)

It’s not irrelevant. If it’s midday then there may well be things that get cut, that wouldn’t get cut if they were being broadcast later in the day.

Friends used to be broadcast at 9pm back in the day. Now it’s on all day long and some bits get cut because it’s before the watershed. Last of the Summer Wine used to be on at 7pm on a sunday, if memory serves, so it seems less likely that there would be stuff you’d want to cut in the first place, but there was still enough innuendo that it might not fly at midday.

in case of the lotswine shows it is on in the evening,i mean this is/was a family show so nowt to be `worried ` about
same with the croc films these were same in late evening i think ( granted the bits cut out were with dundee using his big knife....i can understand that these days, but i don`t think it warrants butchering the film.Just not broadcast it if the `offended` do not like it) :(

Which bits of Crocodile Dundee were edited?

IIRC there were two primary versions way back in the day, and ITV had a few edited versions in additions to that way, way back for various reasons including to fit it in before the 10 o'clock news or something.

There were quite a few
Dundee was in a bar chatting up a TV unknown and grabbed his junk to check
Then again at a party similar action, after the party the knife incident with a street gang....that's not a knife,
This is a knife and proceeded to cut the punks jacket

Just a few instances off the top of my head

I was wondering if the online version was in edited, does anyone watch channels like it X or iPlayer can confirm?

I`m quite sure they cut bits out of things like PG-13 Carry on movies, the Ghost of Mary Whitehouse has returned

Many old shows are never ever shown either, cancelled forever it would seem.

One channel still shows Rising Damp, I`m amazed it has not been banned yet. The racism is insane in that.

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that the BBC , a while ago, said they'd never again air the famous Dont forget the war episode of Fawlty Towers

i noticed 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' and 'Til Death Do us Part' on some random Sky channel - was tempted to stick them on the recording planner but i imagine they are definitely going to be censored to buggery and back

Wasn't there a `magazine` named after that hag?;)

Sounds like the new Encore cut and sadly that will be on the new 4K release as well.

Are they cancelled, or does no one want to watch them any more? We have so much content now. Why would anyone want to watch a load of second rate 70s sitcoms? It’s not like they’ll be remotely relatable in this day and age.

I’m sure I could find no end of perfectly innocent, inoffensive 70s telly that isn’t broadcast any more. Has that been “cancelled” as well?
