The rise of Ozempic

Well, the difference is i do not make excuses about it. One of my problems for instance, is lack of willing to educate myself further to find a better job and earn more money. I could make excuses about it, for example "no time" " too hard" etc. But the truth is, i am not willing to apply myself to better myself financially. No excuses about it.

Its not the worlds fault, its not depression, its nothing else than being stuck in a rutt.

Why do overweight people seem to have so many excuses, when for the most part, it is there own fault?
I mean, some events in our lives we have no control over. If somebody loses their job for whatever reason - being made redundant, etc., then naturally they are likely to become stressed. And some people use coping mechanisms to deal with these unfortunate life events, like binge eating.

I'm really not sure why you're continuing to say that these are plainly just "excuses". **** happens in life, people turn to things that provide them instant comfort, which may necessarily not be good for them in the long term.

Well, you let yourself get in the rutt, so why not just get out of it? Lack of willpower perhaps?

You're making excuses by blaming your unwillingness to apply yourself.

The mental gymnastics you’ve come up with to explain how your unwillingness to better yourself is somehow different because of your copium are pretty funny.

I understand that, but when 3.5k calories equal 1lb of fat, you have to have been binge eating a long time to end up 5+ stone over what you should be

I'll admit the doctor has given me medicine that has a side effect of weight gain. He has suggested another (extra) medicine to prevent it.

Which is at odds to these jabs then. The savings to the NHS will be massive further down the line as people using these jabs will have less instances of diabetes and all those diabetes related health issues. Let alone the many other health issues that being obese bring with it.

Big Pharma make money from keeping people alive and healthier for longer. Dead people make them no money at all!!

I see this as more like buying the NHS time. People may live longer, healthier lives but they will still eventually deteriorate in their old age which is when the majority of people have repeat admissions to hospital, long term stays etc.

Globally this could have an affect on climate change depending on the environmental cost of these drugs - as an example: less global demand for beef, fewer cows reared, less deforestation.

This threads getting pretty toxic. Empathy please.

Unfortunately threads about being overweight always become toxic and now when people are trying to do something about it, it still isnt good enough as they dont approve of the method. Even when you try to do something about it via exercise you will get some of the same people criticise because the chosen method of exercise happens to be riding a bicycle.

Eating habits get deeply ingrained during childhood. It's not a coincidence that my parents never bought me sweets or junk, and we always had proper cooked meals with whole ingredients, and I have maintained a healthy weight and eating habits my entire life.

If someone's had the misfortune to brought up at the mercy of the sugar industry pushing vast amounts of sugar and crap down their throats, and for whatever reason was brought up on a diet of turkey twizzlers and chips.....well those neural pathways are well embedded by adulthood, and 'just eat less' is an ENTIRELY different proposition than it is for me, if I want to drop a bit of weight (which I did recently to offset some creatine bloat), it's dead easy for me.

I don't for a moment imagine everyone overweight is somehow mentally deficient or incapable......cos that would make me a massive ****-end.
