Although this monitor has been mentioned in other threads, I don't think there's a specific thread for it yet, unless I've missed it?

Am very interested in this but, following the CES announcement a month ago, there's literally zero information on price or release date.

Hoping there'll be some more news soon.

PS. Can we please refrain from the "but it's not OLED" comments? Some of us are looking primarily at productivity usage and prefer LCD panels.

Is this finally about to launch?!

It's listed on both the Samsung Malaysia and US sites so far but nowhere else.

This is basically my perfect monitor and a day-zero purchase for me.

Finally available to order and I've done exactly that, delivery next week.

Actually significantly cheaper than I thought it'd be.

Under £700 not bad at all, if it has a better image than the Neo G9 57" that'd be nice.

As long as the image quality is on par with my ageing AW3418DW.

Obviously the image quality is never going to rival an OLED but as it's primarily for productivity use (80%/20%), OLEDs simply aren't suitable for me.
I think this is the first 5120x2160 LCD panel with a decently high refresh rate.

Yeah I'm comparing with the 57" mini led, if it's close or better than that, then a good deal.

Please let us know how you get on with your new monitor. Never had a VA panel so would love your opinion.

Will do. I also generally have IPS panels so it'll be interesting to see how it looks.

Due to be delivered tomorrow but not sure when I'll get round to setting it up due to the Ryder Cup :)

Frankly that is outrageous I want 3000 word dissertation on my desk first thing tomorrow morning :D

the one you have ordered has nothing to do with the one in the OP though does it ?
the OP is talking about a 5k monitor, the ones you have ordered is 4k if I am not mistaken ?

I'm the OP and it's exactly the monitor I mentioned.

The new Odyssey G7 is actually available as two different sizes, a 37" 4K 16:9 and a 40" 5K2K 21:9. It's the latter I was on about and which I've ordered.

ahh ok, I wasn't sure.
Where did you get it from as it looks right up my alley
getting a bit fed up of my super ultra wide now

Direct from Samsung as I think that's the only source right now (hope that doesn't count as mentioning a competitor).

By super ultra wide, can I assume you're using one of the 32:9 screens? Some friends have those but I can't get on with them as they're just too wide. 21:9 is the perfect aspect ratio for me.

yeh I have the OG 49" G9 and the lack of height is annoying, the width can be useful but also annoying when arranging windows.
At work here I have a 34" 21:9 and it feels a much better ratio.

I've been waiting for a reasonably priced 5k larger screen size to come out as I can imagine 2k resolution on a bigger screen will be horrible.

The 45" LG OLED looks perfect but I don't have £2k spare to spank on a monitor right now.

45" LG OLED new could have been had for £1400 new months ago and I believe now its back in stock - then a similar price with discounts. A secondhand 45 inch 5K OLED have gone for under £1300 recently on auction sites. One thing to note the warranty is NOT transferrable if you buy used...
