General Darts Thread

Apparently (many) years ago one of my distant relatives qualified for the darts world championships in doubles (?). This was drunken talk so probably UK championships? Still, impressive. They were saying that back then 90 average was **** hot and darts were played in silence (I think I recall BBC darts coverage being a bit more civilised than the current standupifyouluvthedarts, PDC?).

Tbh even PDC darts was pretty civilised until the beginning of the Premier League era around 2005/2006 and the move of the Worlds to Ally Pally in 2008.

Watch the final leg of Barney V Taylor World final 2007 at the Circus Tavern and how quiet the crowd is while the players are throwing and that was like the biggest most exciting leg in darts history arguably!

The 'stand up if you love the darts' and 'boring boring tables' ***** are sadly an unfortunate byproduct of the sports success over the last 2 decades.

Yup, I can still remember when scoring 100 was considered pretty good, back in the days of John Lowe, Eric Bristow, etc.

The rest of the story is that they got absolutely hammered the day/night before and ended up playing poorly. The better of the two had to be forced to play essentially still drunk

Good afternoon lads, we got a whole week of darts to look forward to. Hard one to win this one. I reckon Littler could be out first round unless he's on it.

Yeh, Littler had his usual slow start last year, and Crooky found him out.
