Imgur has blocked the UK

No, no no. Do not use imgbb. We were on the verge of banning it anyway because unless you have a paid subscription, you can't embed anything. It will look perfectly OK to you, but to everyone else, it's a placeholder.

postimage is the same. Look: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/show-off-your-apple-hardware.17775900/post-37477339

I posted a lot of images from imgbb on here and they all seem to show up fine from the replies/reactions I see

I believe pictures uploaded to imgbb are replaced by a placeholder if you try and hotlink them, so it's probably not a great long term solution.

Imgbb seems to work ok for me too, does the hotlinking restriction happen after the image has been loaded a certain number of times or something?

Not sure what the best solution is now, surely it can't be this complicated! :(

imgbb seem to be starmer'd too.

Full Report - Are ad tech vendors facilitating or monitoring ads on a website that hosts Child Sexual Abuse Material ?

7. imgbb.com appears to financially support its free image hosting service by displaying digital ads from ad tech vendors such as Amazon, Google, Criteo, Quantcast, Microsoft, Outbrain, TripleLift, Zeta Global, Nexxen, and others.
a. It is worth noting that Google AdX, Google Ad Manager, and DV360 do not appear to be actively transacting ads on imgbb.com or ibb.co as of January 2025, at least in the observational sample of data available in this research study.
8. Many major advertisers appeared to have had their ads placed on a website which has been known since at least 2021 to host some amounts of CSAM. These advertisers may have inadvertently contributed funding to a website that is known to host and/or distribute CSAM. The list of advertisers whose ads were confirmed to have served on a site hosting CSAM include major entities such as the Department of Homeland Security, Texas state government (Office of the Texas Governor), Interpublic Group (IPG), Arizona State University, Tom Brady's TB12,

Could you share that please? It’d be really useful.

/edit - sorry, I missed that it’s to your own server. Damn.
Russian sites dont seem to give crap about the pron ban / age checks. It took me all of 20 seconds to find other sites without checks.
Also another search engine - https://yandex.com/

ooh, this could be the new Imgur? :)
Ta. I just set this up on my synology box with minimal effort. One oddity though is that even if you set images to private, they are still viewable publicly via the shared link.

e: I posted a comment to the author (reddit) and his response is that this is by design but there is a feature update in the backlog to add extra security.

I have cleaned up the shortcut and added error feedback, as well as adding some setup questions, you just need to input the URL to your Slink host and the API key.

This is an iOS shortcut I made for Slink, a self-hosted Imgur alternative. It uploads an image directly from your share menu to your very own Slink server, then wraps the resulting image link in tags and copies it to your clipboard.

I'm by no means an expert on this, but it seems to be working very nicely for me :)

There’s an automated process running now which will convert any imgur links to attachments and insert them into the post bodies.

Providing people don’t ask for their imgur accounts to be purged, we won’t lose any pictures within posts.

It’ll take a while to run over every post on the forum.
could small forums do that solution or is it costly and bandwidth hungry?

I asked my colleague if he heard the news about Imgur, pronouncing it as "image-err" and he goes... "Do you mean im-gurr"? As in "im" that rhymes with him and "Gur" as in rhymes with her, hard G as in Give.

I still refuse to pronounce Asus and GIF's in the supposedly correct way, largely because the rare times I need to do so in person it makes me feel like an overly effeminate metro-sexual.

I always pronounced Asus as Abit because they performed better. My only asoos board was a piece of rubbish.

I've never thought of it as anything other than im gurr, but now you've said it, image-err probably makes more sense.

Hell, I can see that @Armadillo is still using Photobucket. Blast from the past!

I'm just too lazy to change it to somewhere else. Photobucket sends me an email every month saying "we will delete your account soon" and I thought, well I'll change it when it gets deleted. That was about 3 years ago :p

As for the actual topic, I like https://imgchest.com/.

Works similar to imgur as far as I can see, you can even get a deletion link if you upload something without being logged in (imgur used to do that, but then made it so you have to be logged in to delete).

Yeah Photobucket have been threatening me with that too. Eventually just blocked their emails, dunno if the account is live or not :p

Like IMGUR your uploads are posts so everyone can see them and comment. Didn't see any way to make posts private.

That's not like Imgur then, uploads are only posts on there if you set them to public, and even then are only likely to be seen if titled and tagged.

I haven't made a public post on there for many years.

I wouldn't want to use a site that only has an option to make images public.
