Still Japanese. No diff to FAW
Like saying iPhone is Chinese
Bargain IMO given you can buy 8 of these for the same price as the Bugatti Chiron which has an equally pointless top speed. That new BYD performance wise does look pretty impressive I must say.
I do just prefer the sound and feel of Petrol engines but for regular people I can see the appeal.Bargain IMO given you can buy 8 of these for the same price as the Bugatti Chiron which has an equally pointless top speed.
I saw the carwow drag race, and I thought it was rigged to give Xaomi the win. I.e the Xaomi was on semi slicks and after 3 races of losing to the plaid the battery overheated and they have to pause until it had cooled down.. How a car manages it's cooling is part of the fundamentals of the car. So what if the plaid was 0.2 seconds slower once or twice, when the other car consistently had overheating problemsI do just prefer the sound and feel of Petrol engines but for regular people I can see the appeal.
Not only just BYD either, but Xaomi have also recently broke into the car industry and the SU7 Ultra is a joke of a car for its price/performance.
1500bhp, broke the nurburgring lap record, beat a tesla model s plaid all for the price of 55k![]()
Starting to understand why the US banned the chinese cars, if they broke into the market they will completely take over and the US car makers will be out of business very quickly
Wouldn't call it rigged, when all things are even and driven by equally competent drivers then the Xaomi is going to win.I saw the carwow drag race, and I thought it was rigged to give Xaomi the win. Had a quiet chuckle to myself. Friend won’t buy a Tesla because of Elon musk, but is quite happy to consider a MG, BYD or xpeng.
I've driven a Plaid a few times (a friend of mine has one) and it's a great car. Even without preparation and on regular road tires it accelerates crazy fast. My friend had to spend a ton of money and time to get the ceramic breaks.
Given the Xiaomi is cheaper, looks better and comes with ceramics, IMHO if they start importing it to the UK (for say 85K) they may be able to sell quite a few. Mainly at the expense of BMW and Porsche (who don't have anything comparable as performance at this price).
Until you need to replace the brakes then you cry lol. Found that out with the ceramics on a RS3, end up costing the price of a whole car and need replacing every 2-3 years. Oh and they're really noisy so when you're in traffic and everyone around is staring is fun
Think he said in the vid that the discs are £500 rather than the £1800 on the Tesla or something. Definitely much cheaper.
That said, I'm sure both times you actually need the carbons during the ownership of the car, you'll be grateful you have them.
The driver of the Xaomi consistently had awful reaction times to the start, even Matt Watson kept on telling him he wasn't reacting quickly enough. I'd wager had they swapped drivers the result would have consistently in the Xaomi favour.I saw the carwow drag race, and I thought it was rigged to give Xaomi the win. would make a change to smuggling cigs and wine into the country....... smuggling a set of brake disksIs that UK 500 or China 500?
I often see videos, articles quoting Chinese numbers and the problem is everything is way cheaper there compared what it costs after export. Even Chinese cars themselves are much cheaper to buy in China than anywhere else, downunder where I am Chinese cars here cost close to double the price they are in China and the servicing costs are close to European car servicing prices
I can give you a quick example. A BYD Atto 3
In China costs 115,800 Yuan, which converts to $24,700 for me. But the actual price of the Atto 3 at a local dealership: $46,000
And totally useless. it takes no account of how big the batteries are. Of course a car with a 90Kwh battery is going to go further than one with a 75 in the same way as an ICE car with a 100L tank will go further than one with a 60L tank. Carwow are getting bad for these clickbait videos nowCarwow just released a video of an electric car range test, very interesting results.
