It had an element from the USA side yesterday of nothing to lose too. They were so far back it didn't matter if they went down swinging.

A win is a win but pity they didnt manage to give the Yanks a good stuffing.

No doubt Trump and friends will be claiming a moral victory or some such nonsense.

Find it hilarious that there is a lot of noise about the envelope, if you go back to 1991 then USA won 14.5 to 13.5 and had to use the envelope as Steve Pate was unable to play.

Its absolute cringe; if anything it probably benefitted the American's, I'd have fully expected Hovland to take the full point if he was fit.
Maybe in future Ryder Cup's if there's an injury pull out for the Singles the Captains have to play each other!

jesus wept - the morning after the night before....8 hours sleep and I'm still exhausted...

Great win overall, but looking at those singles - only a single victory is a little concerning.

They did enough in the first two days to win it but my god, they had to all work for that.

Stressful Sunday evening viewing but still my absolutely favourite sporting event - Love it.

Donald for the 3 peat??

Got to be a conversation for sure....

Seemed like Donald at least was going to entertain the discussion about a 3rd stint as Captain, I fully expect the US Captain in 2027 to be Tiger Woods.

Rules are rules - if both teams agree to change them for the future - I've no issues.

Whining about it whilst in the middle of the event is pointless.

Like trying to change the offside rule in the middle of a game.

Both teams knew the rules around the injured players etc and that's that.

Well got my cage set up and launch monitor pretty impressed with it to be honest, hopefully can grind the shanks out of me over winter even though it’s seeming hereditary at this point. Fly to Turkey next week hopefully get a couple of good rounds in!

Played Burhill Old Course on Tuesday with @Maccy and other friends. Unreal place, seriously quick and tricky greens. Lost count of the number of putts that trickled past and ended up 6 feet away! That was after they'd been punched as well, god knows how quick they'd be in their peak condition.

After doubling the first 3 holes I sort of forgot the score and enjoyed the place.

Storms predicted for the weekend here - probably not far off done for the season now in terms of scoring rounds etc.

Off to Spain in 2 weeks again - can't wait - 5 days, 5 courses...

Never understood this chain of thought. I put in every score regardless of conditions and my handicap moves accordingly. I never hangon to my summer handicap until next summer.

Not a chain of thought - Our club doesn't allow ANY scores over the winter. Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb - all none counters.

Not my decision I'm afraid.

Because the local authority move the tees around/winter greens etc - not a measured course - therefore unable to play for handicap.

"With no officially measured course available on either the Belleisle or Seafield courses there can be no slope or course ratings for these courses. With neither of these available, NO scores can be submitted for handicap purposes. This will continue until an authorised measured course is back in operation with course and slope ratings."

Storms predicted here as well starting tomorrow, so my tee times for the weekend may be cancelled if it gets too bad

Headed to the range earlier this evening to try and work on the next piece of my swing change plans for the winter to try and get my driver in a better place. It will take some effort but I have seen some glimpses over the last week or so, which is promising this early in the process

Hopefully that will translate next season to my handicap dropping again as I am almost back up to a 7 this year just due to not trusting my tee game

We have also got our mixed weekend away sorted for next year as well - off to play Eyemouth and then Gullane 2 and 3 which I am looking forward to as not played Gullane at all

Does this apply to MyEG, does the course inform them, otherwise isn't it just calculated from the slope and irrelevant of your courses decision.. I genuinely don't know.

No - our courses (Belleisle and Seafield) are owned by local authority, not a private club.

Therefore - the local authority do as they please with the course when they want.

So monday they might just close a couple of holes to do some bunker work - so the course is 16 holes. Tuesday they might shorten the course and move up 4 tees, wednesday they might say the slope on the 14th is dangerous as it's wet, therefore no 14/15/16th holes etc.

They are under no obligation to inform SGU on a daily basis.

On Wednesday I played the grand final of the NCG Top 100 Tour which was at Hollinwell near Nottingham. I was feeling a little rough as I seem to have caught a cold/flu type bug, probably from my family last weekend, but as it was free golf at a nice course I thought I'd push through :p

Actually felt remarkably fine out on the course which was nice but my golf was just 'off', hit some good shots but some of the worst swings I've done ever I think. Did pick up a bit towards the back 9 and got a couple of pars but overall was pretty bad, but hey, free golf, nice course, worth it :p

On a side note I've been considering an electric and maybe/probably remote trolley so I hired an electric one there to give one a go, it was an old Powakaddy FX3 so pretty basic and I kinda see some appeal but really didn't rate it. The speed setting seemed poorly implemented, I only really used 4-6 and on the level 4 was comfortable if slightly slow walking pace whilst 5 felt like marching, then on the inclines I needed to use 6 as it felt more like a power setting than speed if that makes sense. I didn't use 1-3 or 8-10 at all so completely useless. The needing to keep holding it was meh too so think if I do go down that route I'd definitely want a remote one...

I think courses can remove their stuff from MyEG, I've certainly been to courses where I've gone to start a scorecard, found the course but there's no tee options available.

Played in the mid week roll up on Wednesday, which being the first of the month meant it was a medal. Shot +4 net after a sloppy end to the round on seventeen and eighteen (doubled both for differing reasons), and a couple of missteps with the flat stick (one very poor three putt on seven and a ridiculous four putt at eleven!). Highlight was an extremely fortuitous birdie on twelve, 28th of the year to go along with one I made at the weekend. My layup short of the water, which I'd pulled, had to come rest on the banking that runs down the left of the fairway. 160ish to the pin, ball well below feet, I blade my 6i which just makes it over the water and runs up to 4-5ft :D

Game is in a strange place at the moment. I'm striking it well 90% of the time, despite not being able to hit my 5w or 7w at the moment :p My pace putting is improving although I'm still managing the odd faux pas, on Wednesday aside from the two shockers everything else was 2-3ft at most. On the weekend I'd drained one from 40ft to save bogey in a match play tie which I went on to win 5&4. Yet as has been the case all year I just can't put a score together across a full round. Golf lesson coming up next week, if the weathers OK then I think short game will be on the agenda. Need to get more confident on those short chips where you're a few feet from the fringe and short sided. Also distance control out of greenside bunkers.

First full round in a good few years or so. 101 in rather grim conditions! 18 over for the first 9 and 11 over for the 2nd half. The club found my handicap of 22 so wasn't massively over what I was at before quitting.

There's a few holes where I was just about getting to the fairway with a 7iron or 5 iron.
3 wood was a battle, seemed either thin, thick or slice. Could have done with a driver in the bag or the ability to hit a wood

Lost a few balls which brought the score up too.

One thing I learnt is I really need waterproofs! God I was soaked! Least I had the course to myself and I now know where I am going.

They do have a lovely course guide but no chance of me reading it today

I picked up a Motocaddy S7 remote from Ebay at the start of the summer. Apart from the occasional bit of chaos when I first got it (ended up in a bunker, then toppled over in a nettle bed - both due to me being an idiot with it... :D) - it's been great. Just point it in the right direction and off it goes - takes some getting used to, but you can just leave it whereever you like then "summon" it when you need a club/ball. Quite often I'll use the remote and send it over to the next tee box when I'm putting. Hard to get used to pushing a trolley again! It's great being able to just walk up a hill when all your mates are struggling pushing their trolleys!

Yep, played today and we teed off with it being a light drizzle and it progressively got worse. Was chucking it down by about hole 15. Not how I wanted to find out my waterproof coat is no longer waterproof... However, did manage to shoot a PB +17 today in wet, windy conditions so very happy!

Same - got soaked. Had some light drizzle the first 9 holes, then it started getting worse by about the 15th. On the plus side, my clubs are nice and clean now, after getting soaked this afternoon!
