Imgur has blocked the UK

Actually it is not it has some worthwhile objectives. The fact that some US company would rather block the UK and probably subsequently the EU to avoid selling data of minors is on them and not our government or its legislation.
The internet is full of such dodgy stuff and giving carte blanche to all of it is basically wrong. Someone will be along soon with a better image host if they have not already.
It's filled with dodgy stuff because it was and is inherently an adult place.

Access to it whatsoever should have been age-gated and parents should have been punished for allowing it, not haphazard functionally voluntary garbage we've been saddled with well after the horse bolted.

what does OC self-hosting of legacy imgur pictures mean for future forum support of imgur.
Nothing. It's a one off pass. If anyone uploads imgur pictures once it completes, all anyone in the UK will see is the placeholder.

need to be able to insert html code into xenforo posts to get Gdrive images to work - which I don't think you can do eg
I can't imagine we'll ever allow that, it's too much of a security issue to allow full html embedding.

Is there a long term solution being worked out for future image uploads on the forum?

I remember reading a consideration of allowing attachments to be directly uploaded a fair few pages ago, but I imagine that comes with its own complications, like bandwidth, etc.

Or are alternative image hosts/self hosting the only viable solutions?

Just trying to link image from OneDrive. Does not look as good as the original of what I used from Imgur.

We're considering it, but it could push us into insisting on age verification, which is not something we're prepared to do as it would kill the forum.

Go on then allow the wild west with everything for sale and see how long that our host overclockers.co.uk tolerates your presence.

It's an impressive feat our government has achieved when it's a nicer experience to "surf the web" with a vpn permanently turned on. What a time to be alive.

esting out slink. Small VM in Oracle Cloud Free Tier, signup page blocked via nginx, and proxied via Cloudflare.

42GB free space, but I'm sure I could do something with <a cloud storage provider here>.

Nice one. I love the simplicity of Slink, it's pretty much perfect for an imgur replacement for what I use it for. 42GB will go a very long way for image hosting!

It would be nice if it supported batch upload, ie, I go to a car event and take 20 pics and want to upload them all, it doesn't support it so has to be done 1 by 1. But for a free tool you can self host it's very cool.

My shortcut converts to JPG :)

I thought I installed yours, need to check but I'm a few beers in so might revisit tomorrow.

Agreed the batch upload would be a great feature, as well as some form of albums, both of which are open feature requests so hopefully something we'll see in future.

Fair :D I just checked again and it definitely converts it to jpg. Although interestingly, screenshots from my phone have uploaded as png.

S3ND.PICs was mentioned and I just tried it myself. Like IMGUR your uploads are posts so everyone can see them and comment. Didn't see any way to make posts private. Support did respond quickly to an email I sent them though.

Maybe not the site for just uploading yours pics and doing hotlinks etc.

IMGbb was another site mentioned. <Ignore this due to bad hotlink from the site>
Thank you

Well this place has rules and any sensible forum does.

As for the less sensible places, well the law does little to nothing to stop them anyway or to stop kids accessing them with a bit of effort (as well as additional risk). What it does however do is remind everyone every single day they can no longer see images from the default image hosting site.
